Our recent stay at the Star Inn definitely had it's good and it's bad points! On the positive side; location was excellent, there was good parking facilities, one half of the proprietors were very friendly and accommodating (not sure the same could be said for the other half!). The restaurant was excellent, with good menu choices and high quality food.... More

Julie, Richard & Kevin offer a fantastic place to eat. I took my family there on Sunday and the service and food was of excellent quality and value. There was 9 of us and the food came piping hot and plenty of it too. Brilliant. So much so we are having our wedding reception there in June and are staying... More

This was a 2 night DB&B treat (added on to a weeks holiday). The two night stay had been purchased by my partner on e-bay and we were looking foward to the excellent food that we had read about on Tripadvisor! The pub is old and a little tired, but Julie, Richard and Kevin more than make up for that!... More

Took our 9 year old grandson out for a birthday treat to the star as we live local. Julie & Richard were so friendly & made a fuse of the birthday boy. The food was excellent all homemade right down to the bread that was served with the homemade pate. Nothing was to much trouble our grandson is a very... More

Second visit every bit as enjoyable as the first. Excellent hosts. Really good food. Recommended for short breaks. Everyone who visits is friendly too. Never dull. Never boring.

Yes ken the chef and 'manager' has moved on. However the existing other chef kevin is still there and is continuing to keep up the high standard of food previously offered. The fresh fish restaurant is open from thursday-saturday. And the sunday roast they offer is devine. A must if you can make it. Although, as it has been busy... More

We stayed at this hotel in late November and initially we were a little shocked, it was tired and in need of a face lift. However, Ken the new landlord told us of his plans for this hotel and work was already underway. We were staying with 2 other couples for 2 nights and had requested 3 double rooms. Ken... More

Stayed at the star as a result of a brilliant ebay deal for two nights towards the end of November. The Star is a definite inn rather than a hotel. The room was clean and tidy if a little on the compact side. The bathroom had been nicely done although the shower lacked power. However the highlight of the weekend was... More
