We stayed at the Markland during Celtic Colours. We had reserved a log room which was available when we arrived -- a plus always! We went to the room and it was ok -- especially since there's a choice of one hotel in Dingwall. When I ran the water to brush my teeth, I found there wasn't much water pressure.... More

The Markland Coastal Beach Cottages are right at the end of the road through Dingwall and what a location; the views are stunning. We stayed in a lovely comfortable cabin with views down the grassed slope towards a small copse of trees and a quiet sand and shingle beach. The onsite restaurant does very good breakfasts and evening meals. I... More

We stayed in a log room with a little patio. The location definitely can't be beat and the view is something else. There is a cute little beach for the guests and we spent some time just looking out into the distance. It was very windy and cold so we were glad that we could walk across the lot to... More

My wife and I stayed the night in Cabin 14 on October 18 and on opening the door you could hear and see flies everywhere, I walked up to the registration office and told them that the room was full of flies and that I wanted another room, the person that ran the desk told me that she was very... We have recently visited Nova Scotia, and the highlight was a two day trip to Cape Breton Island to see the dramatic fall colours. The Markland has been a family favourite for more years than I know, with friendly welcome, cottages with either sea view or set among trees. We stayed during Canadian Thanksgiving, 12-14 October, the ideal time for... More

Don't let the gray exterior of the cottages fool you. The inside of each was spacious & finished with gorgeous knotty pine, both wall and ceiling. We stayed in a triple with another couple - two bedrooms on the outside with a connecting kitchen/lounge in between. All had bathrooms & the view from the long porch was awesome. Breakfast was... Since we had lots of time, we decided to break the trail in half and find a place to stay. Everyone encouraged us to go to the Keltic Lodge, but we wanted to find something closer to the top of the trail. The Markland is a series of cottages bu the sea. We stayed in one of the log rooms.... More

We stayed here for 3 nights in October. We stayed in a room rather than a cabin. It was quiet, spacious, had good views of the ocean, and we appreciated the heating. Wifi worked okay. Price was very reasonable. I found the food here a little disappointing. Breakfast was a choice of breads (bread, bagels, English muffins) with toaster and... More

The Markland is midway around the Cabot Trail, in a lovely setting looking out over the North Atlantic with Cape North in the distance. Because we like taking our time on the Trail, this is the perfect spot to take an overnight break. To reach the Markland one drives through the lovely fishing village of Dingwall and past the Harbor... More
