Its all about expectations. If you want shampoos and shower caps and up to the minute maintenance, you will need to go elsewhere. This is a place for those of us who do not shriek at seeing a spider in the bathtub or a window screen askew. It is a genuine old house and general store, and Janet and John... More

I've read the reviews below. If you're looking for the Ritz Carlton, you're going to be severely disappointed. Our 3 nights at The Four Mile Beach Inn was one of the highlights of our 3 1/2 weeks in Canada. If you like cozy, warm, homey- this is it. Our room- it was the "attic" room- was spacious and quiet and... More

I was traveling with my husband, sister and mom when we stayed one night here. The sitting rooms were dreary and filled with odd decor. The first impression was nothing like what the website implied. Our room was dusty and dirty. The frame on the screen in the window was broken so bugs came right in. They do not provide... More

This group arrived at the inn totally exhausted after a long day in the car in 37 degree weather. Why do people do this? They even had difficulty deciding on where to go to dinner. I offered to help to get a reservation and in the middle of my conversation with the restaurant manager the four of them walked out of... More

Janet and John were the best of hosts as we were greeted and shown around this wonderful old building together with a summary of its' history. Our room (#4) was clean and comfortable with a self contained bathroom. Janet offered several suggestions as what to see, do and where to eat, all of which were very enjoyable. Although a little... We were travelling the Cabot trail and had stayed at several locations for one overnight on the way towards the top. We were looking forward to spending two nights at the Four Mile Beach Inn. However after arriving at the Four Mile Beach Inn and being thoroughly disappointed, we spent the better part of our first night's stay and two... More

Janet was friendly and a great host offering lots of suggestions of things to see and do in the area. The decor of this historic B & B was charming with quilts on the beds and hooked rugs underfoot. The property backs on to Aspy Bay where one can enjoy a morning stroll while waiting for a delicious breakfast before... More

We stayed for 2 nights at the Four Mile Beach Inn and had a nice time there. Janet was a great host and we appreciated her sharing the history of this 1887 Inn. What is offered is great -- clean spacious room and linens and spotless bathroom with good water pressure in the shower. Do not expect shampoo or shower... More

The web site looks great but I was quite disappointed with the cleanliness of the place. I am not fastidious but I expect to see some signs of hygiene where I stay for 133.00 per night. The bathmat in our room was disgusting . No soap or shampoo was provided and the soap dispenser was empty in our bathroom. the... More

Thank you for the review, Lori. I hope you were able to have some enjoyment in your room... on the rainy day that it was.You only mentioned your washroom so I assume you did get some rest and enjoyment during your stay with us. I do wish you had come to us directly to ask for more soap in your... More

We recently stopped at the Four Mile Beach Inn during our 2 week road trip of Nova Scotia. The Inn has so much character and history that it makes it very interesting to see. The location was perfect, not too far from the main Cabot Trail road. It's a great place to relax in peace and quiet and only a... More

Oh sure, those chairs on the front porch were comfortable and the set up on the back deck was inviting. But I opted for kayaking on the bay (water access right on the property) and a long walk along the beach (access across the bay by kayak or just down the road from the provincial park). There are a number... More
