We stumbled across Castellane on our driving tour of South France. Ma Petite Auberge is in the Main Street and suited us perfectly as we arrived at 7pm with no booking. The staff were very accommodating and we quickly settled into our 2nd floor room. Quite small, with tiny bathroom. Shower only had a hand held shower rose which made... More

This was a very mixed experience. A smart traditional hotel, we booked a 'Superior' room here but the room was not as good as many ordinary rooms we have had at much better prices in other hotels. Perhaps because it is in Provence there is a premium to pay but we felt the room didn't match the price. It was... More

In 12 years of road trips and almost 70 hotel reviews for Trip Advisor this shabby hotel must be up there as one of the worst we've ever had the misfortune to stay in. There is an air of neglect about the place, it's well past it's best and badly in need of a total renovation. Our room was small... More

Stayed here with friends for 5 nights. We were walking in the Gorges du Verdon area. True the hotel accommodation is simple and furnishings a bit tired but everything works! Well located on the quiet main square. The outstanding staff make you very welcome and the restaurant is a real surprise. Very good value and excellent cooking ( chef is... More

Our group of 8 stayed 3 nights in this hotel, eating in the hotel restaurant on two of the evenings. The hotel is rated 2 stars which is an accurate reflection of the room standards. Very clean with well laundered linen, the rooms are smallish and somewhat quirky with some having been modernised years ago to provide ensuite facilities. All... More

We stayed for one night while passing through on a tour of the region. The staff we met were very friendly and relaxed. There's free parking to the rear. The hotel is a little bit tired, but it was reasonably priced. One the first floor we found the free wi-fi signal a bit weak, but it worked. And the room,... More

We arrived at this hotel tired after a long day of driving, and were immediately welcomed into the charm of this small, country-style hotel. A quick shower, a stroll round the beautiful village in the moonlight and back to the hotel for a typically French 3 course dinner, and then to our simple, comfy room for a sound night's sleep.... I've just read a couple of the lower ratings reviews and must say that we stayed here for three nights and didn't have any bad experiences. Our front bedroom on the first floor looked directly out onto the town square, which was suprisingly quiet at night. It was a comfortable room, slightly faded in the fashion of a lot of... More

Dear ’Ma Petite Auberge’. We were staying at your hotel the night between the 30th and 31st of October among 11 other Danish people and we all had a ½ pension included. Everything was excellent and we all enjoyed our stay. We had en excellent diner and breakfast and appreciated your hospitality and kindness. So from all of us –... More

When my wife and I got to Castellane, this hotel was already "complete", but after our terrble dinner experience in their restaurant, we felt lucky that we didn't spend the night there. Just like the previous reviewer from Kent, we were told by a man, who turned out to be our waiter (but most likely, the proprietor himself), that the... More
