We stayed for 3 nights at Montarlese Eco-Lodges, in June 2013. The accommodation is simple but the basics are OK. Facilities are also basic (breakfast is good, but no lunch and dinner options). The hostess is very kind but does not speak English very well. During our stay, the road to the accommodation (approx. 5 km) was very terrible due... More

When I chose this place over the Internet I was won over by its eco mentality and I wasn't disappointed when I arrived there. It's an exquisit location, off the beaten track, overlooking the quiet hills of the Tuscan Maremma. A true peaceful and enchanted spot. It's also close enough to everything: the Argentatio, Saturnia, Capalbio, Montemerano, il Giardino die... More

After driving and driving and wondering where this place was we were pleasently suprised when we arrived as the views were breathtaking. the rooms were awesom. i was impressed that it is entirely "green'.They collect rain water, heat with solar, all natural construction and very comfortable. Total and absolute quiet at night .Just lovely. However... the Mrs. was not so... More

Tenuta di Montarlese is well worth the off the beaten path winding drive up the gorgeous Tuscan hills. The inn is absolutely charming and the innkeeper bends over backwards to make his guests feel welcome and well fed. Fresh baked bread, home grown produce and their incredible olive oil only add to the little details to make all guests feel... More

This country eco-lodge was the perfect choice for a relaxing and enjoyable long week end with the children. The location is breathtakingly beautiful, and the rooms and the main house of the lodge are charming, cosy and very comfortable. We loved the authentic and rich Italian homemade breakfast, the kindness of the owners and the delicious local Montarlese house red... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
A natural terrace over Maremma. In the heart of the Maremma region, the Montarlese estate has been inhabited since ‘700. The guesthouse is on a top of a hill with a panorama extending from the Amiata mountains to the picturesque hills housing the medieval cities of Magliano and Scansano and continuing on to the Tyrrhenian sea with a view of the islands of Giglio and Montecristo as well as the Argentario promontory. The guesthouse, located in the centre of a 91 acres estate, is surrounded by centuries old olive trees and by 12 acres of vineyards from which we produce our red full bodied Morellino di Scansano and our white fruity Bianco Pitigliano. The environment is unspoilt and it is common to come across a fox, a deer or watch the hawks hunting. The air is Maremma-clean as the nearest factory is about 60 miles away!.The stone and wood farmhouse has been finely restored and is well in tune with the colours of the surrounding landscape: all materials and furniture are strictly organic and of a simple elegance, efficient lighting prevents light pollution. We offer double rooms with a queen size bed and en-suite bathroom or suites with bedroom, bathroom and dining room with a well-equipped kitchen. Extra beds for children are available. ... more   less
