After a night flying in and landing to admire the sunset and camp on Sollas beach we woke to a magical morning and lift from brilliant local taxi driver to go to Lochmaddy Hotel for a full Scottish breakfast. We were met with friendly smiles and enjoyed a hearty, honest breakfast. Just the ticket! Homely and amazing views. Top pot... More

The only good thing about The Lochmaddy Hotel are the staff who seem to soldier on regardless of the tired and rundown hotel they are working in. The family room we had had no shower and the water was never hot enough for a bath. The double bed was very low to the ground and you could feel the springs... More

The couple running this hotel are doing a great job in making it a focal point - we were there on Quiz Night, and there was a great atmosphere in the bar. The hotel is fresh and clean, though some parts are rather faded (such as the stair carpet). The breakfast was the only low point - floury yoghurt, inedible... More

We've had holidays on North Uist for about a decade and so have dined at the Lochmaddy Hotel on many occasions over the years and generally the food has been very good. This year we paid a visit once again and have to say that the experience was once again excellent. It was very busy when we arrived, with all... More

We stayed in on Saturday July 18th . The hotel is dated and a little tired. The room was clean with lovely fluffy white towels. Evening meal was excellent. Breakfast on the Sunday was really very good too. The hotel had a real good feel about it. Updating the bedrooms and some of the public areas, would make it more... More

As a local who eats out once a month I regularly travel to the other end of Uist to visit the fabulous culinary delights of Lochmaddy Hotel. They provide a fantastic extensive menu of proper pub food cooked to perfection with hearty portions along with a more ala carte specials board which regularly displays the local catches and game of... On touring The Hebrides I stayed at The Lochmaddy. Hotel on the island of North Uist. I had no prior knowledge of thi hotel. What a pleasant discovery. North Uist is a sparsely populated island but the minute I entered the hotel I felt totally at home. The hotel is privately owned by John and Lorraine who took it over... More

My wife and I stayed at this hotel on 1st July 2015. The room we were billeted in was OK - not primitive but certainly not mod-con. We gave up with the hot water shower and chose not to shower. The bar is OK and has a great selection of whiskies. We were too late for dinner - look out... More

On my recent trip have eaten here several times and the food is excellent...good portions and quality . A regularly changing specials board plus standard menu is available..plus wine list and large choice of whiskies menu. Featuring fresh seafood and North Uist beef the choice of produce in the island is top notch The staff in the restaurant lounge are... More
