A little expensive considering the standard of rooms and facilities. The room I was in had very thin curtains and I was woken up by the light around 6am.Evening meal was tasty enough but hot smoked salmon fillet was on the small side with 8 boiled potatoes and a basic salad. Try the Stepping Stones Restaurant a few miles away for... More

Four of us stayed for one night here after a long cycle. Manager pleasant enough and offered B&B £200, excessive. Given two young lads with were tired we had little option. We had a good shower and were looking forward to dinner. Two of us ordered burger and chips and two young lads had chicken kebabs. Unfortunately burgers and chips... More

I can see why there is such a large range of posts for this hotel as our group (40+ people) had vastly different experiences/opinions. Unfortunately we were put in a very small room on the first floor which looked as though nothing had changed for about thirty years. There wasn't really any sort of welcome, the TV belongs in a... This review relates to dining only. There are a lot of positives but a lack of competition fails to push the restaurant above average. There is nothing negative to say about the food but it won't set the world alight. The menu is extensive and ranges from Indian to tex mex, so something to please everyone. There is also a... More

We called in to this hotel as we had been told that there was a ceilidh taking place in the week, we asked the girl behind the bar who stated that she had no idea if there was or not, I asked if any music was taking place that week , she again didn't know. She said she would have... More

Stayed 3 nightss in a twin room in July when weather was very hot. The bar was a great haven to cool off and well laid out - with a small beer garden outside to soak up the sun. The nearby (5 min walk) white sandy beach behind the hotel is fantastic for wildlife and can be very quiet. The... More

We just came back from a trip to the Hebrides. As part of our tour we spent a couple of nights at the Dark Isle. I really liked this hotel. The people were extremely friendly and the food was good. There is a public bar which is a must to visit. We met some locals and got invited along to... More

I stayed here in a few months ago in bad weather and had a pleasant stay. It is a strange long building with creaking water tanks and ageing decor but it was warm, comfortable and welcoming. The food was good and we were treated to some local entertainment after our meal. I was surprised to see so many bad reviews... More

Although my room was in the attic it was adequate but i could have used a little more headroom when using the toilet. Also a very old fashioned clunker of a cathode ray tube TV took up a large corner of my room as well. Other than this the staff were friendly and helpful and the salmon salads were superb.... More

We stayed at the Dark Isle on our cycle trip through the Hebrides. We arrived on the only day that we'd had constant rain and mist so we were very glad when we saw the hotel looming out of the mist! The room was comfortable and the bath most welcome after our soggy cycle ride from Lochmaddy. We ate in... More
