We stayed for 3 nights at Heimat gardens. Ko Yao Yai has only a few places and most of them are expensive. Heimat Gardens is a guesthouse with 9 rooms and a restaurant. Yamalia, the owner, speaks good English and German, she is also a very good cook. The prices are not cheap but the food is fresh and good.... More

I spent 2 nights at Heimat Gardens on the island of Koh Yao Yai. I travelled by myself and had an absolutely peaceful and super relaxed time. I very much enjoyed my stay at Heimat Gardens: The hotel was close to the beach, my room was extremely clean and comfortable and the breakfast was delicious. Everyone who is looking for... More

We stayed here for just one night. The nearby beach is nice and great views but the accommodation is overpriced for what it essentially a concrete box with no views. There is an outdoor terrace with some sofas, the rooms are very spacious and clean, aircon availble. But nowhere else in Thailand did we pay 800bht for a tiled concrete... More

We particularly enjoyed the food here - the breakfasts were fantastic! We hired a scooter from the owner and enjoyed touring the island which is quiet and picturesque. The rooms, as mentioned by the previous reviewer, were clean, funcional and business like but we thought they lacked a certain amount of character. As, other than the restaurant, there wasn't a... We just stayed here for three nights. They are a 5 min walk away from a nice big beach, and the small cluster of rooms are set away from the road and shaded by trees. The rooms were extremely clean with good showers and kind of resembled business hotels from the 90s (this is a compliment!) It's a good price... More

We didn't stay at Heimat Gardens, but we did eat twice in their restaurant which was absolutely outstanding. My wife and I love Thai food. We did 2 cooking courses while on our honeymoon in Thailand (sadly not here, although we did enquire) and we ate amazing Thai food everywhere we went, from street food to more upmarket places and... Koh Yao Yai reminds me of Boipeba in Bahia, Brazil. The island is completely unspoiled. I arrived by boat from Thalen Bay, Krabi. What a fabulous trip. The scenery is spectacular. The cost: 120 baht! I stayed with Yamalia at Heimat Gardens. She has 5 large rooms, with another four to be completed shortly. The room was spotlessly clean, had... More

I do strongly recommend Heimats Gardens if you are looking for warmth welcomed, tasty food and lots of peace and relax time. We have been so happy in this little paradise. The rooms are spotless; the beach is like a private place, the people are always smiling and ready to help you. We wish we could stay longer as the... More

We stayed here for 3 nights and wish we had stayed longer!Yomalia is the perfect host, nothing is too much trouble-she even got up early on our last day to make us breakfast and took us to the pier to catch the 730am boat. The rooms are one one of the cleanest we have ever stayed in, nice and spacious.... More

A friend and I read the reviews of Heimat and stayed as it sounded like just what we needed - peace and quiet and no large touristy resorts. Indeed that is what we got at Heimat, plus more! The guesthouse is located off a delightful road that leads down to the beach. No loud music, no late-night bars, no shops,... More
