We stayed at this resort during christmas 2010 after research looking for something more upscale but yet genuine. First of all the positive about this resort is the fantastic location with beautiful scenery and the ecological touch. We could also have some understanding for the not so good service level since the staff are picked from the local villages around... More

The Koh Yao Yai Village was the destination of choice after being recommended by the owner of pyramid bar (see Koh Yao Noi blog). We booked through expedia and it worked out at £40 a night including buffet breakfast. As soon as we drove in we realised this was likely to be a good choice. This is a resort style... More

Koh Yao Yai is best for anyone seeking tropical getaway in beautiful settings that are far, far away from the crowds. Koh Yai Yai in general is dwarfed by the fame of Koh Yao Noi, and that island is often overlooked because of Phi Phi and Phuket. The end result is a beautiful island that's been allowed an escape from... More

We were completely surprised on arriving to find the hotel was such a nice looking place. The website does definitely do justice and the rooms are, if anything, better than is shown. The staff were super helpful from the moment we arrived. It's a very well equipped place for one so relatively isolated. Because Koh Yao Yai is such a... More

We stayed for 2 nights as part of our honeymoon on the way from Phuket to Krabi. We're not lying on beach people, but though that 2 nights/2,5 days lying by the infinity pool, looking at the islands (in the sun), would have been a great way to spend a few days. Unfortunately we arrived during unseasonal heavy rains ,... More

I have stayed in lovely hotels before but this one beats everything. The bungalows are very spacious, the place is very well maintained, the staff is very helpful and the swimming pool is just OUTSTANDING! It is not a place where I would stay for a long period because there is not much to do but it is an ideal... More

These islands between phuket and Krabi are yet to be overtouristed so don't expect much to do. This is a place to hang out at and read books etc. They will do local tours but if you start to ask for interesting things you will find that you are sent back to phuket first (eg. Phi Phi island tour). The infinity... More

The hotel grounds, facilities and rooms are all superb, with the best pool I've ever had the pleasure of using in a hotel. Rooms are also excellent, spacious, very tastefully designed and full of nice touches like classy dressing gowns, sarongs and a beach kit-bag, and very comfortable beds. The expansive and well tended hotel grounds included some small rice... More

After slummimg it around Thailand for three weeks we were really looking forward to our time at Yao Yai. As it was the most expensive resort we stayed at - by far - we expected a higher level of service. Instead we were greeted by astronomical prices. Hiring scooters for the day was x3 more expensive than anywhere else in... More
