We have now experienced 5 Paradores and this one is better than most. We arrived at 10 and were immediately given a room overlooking the Cathedral and Camino. Have not heard the bells that others have complained about, could that have possibly been a Sunday. Have wifi in room, no problems. Had the set lunch and that was the best... More

The hotel is a lovely old converted building with plenty of public space. Right opposite the cathedral you do get the bells all 24 hrs but room 121 was at the back and we didn't hear them - those overlooking the square complained of being frequently woken in the night. Rooms are a good size with twin large beds. Problem... More

(Please note that, confusingly, Santo Domingo is unique in having two Paradors within walking distance. The other one is the Parador de Santo Domingo Bernardo de Fresneda, which is in the Convento de San Francisco. It is only open part of the year, it has no restaurant and is only a 3-star.) As others have commented, the location of this... More

Had a fantastic golfing holiday - Santo Domingo so fascinating. The Pilgrims walk is very popular and the Cathedral is beautiful. The town is full of history. Golf courses around the area are superb quality.

On arriving into Santa Domingo we were very excited to arrive at our parador. It was our first time to stay in a parador, and it will be our last unless drastically change. Although it is situated in a beautiful setting and has a lot of history behind it, we were extremely disappointed. There were three of us staying there,... More

This was our first visit to this Parador, two nights, we are parador Amigos and are well over the age to get the Golden days prices, however as regular users of Paradors and taking the above into consideration we are finding that we are always given the rooms no one else wants, no view or over the kitchens and this... Stay at this Parador for 2 nights and found it to be amazing in many ways. The location - center of town, adjacent to the cathedral and bell tower. Rooms - large and comfortable with a large, separate sitting room with TV. Very modern bath and large bedroom. Although the bell tower is adjacent to the square, the hourly bell... More

This parador is housed in what was the hospital built by Saint Domingo for whom the town is named for the express purpose of helping pilgrims on the Camino. It is a beautiful building and structure. The rooms are nice enough, but nothing outstanding. For the price, I expected more - we stayed in Casa Rurals on the Camino that... More

The hotel is located right next to the Camino de Santiago. The parador makes for a delightful stay in a quintessential Spanish medieval town: the bells from the church across the street may keep you awake at night, but they add to the inspiring atmosphere. Bedding was simply adequate and wifi only worked in the hotel's reception area. The hotel... More

This is one of TWO paradores in Santo Domingo de la Calzada. The other parador operates Spring through Fall. This hotel is called Parador Santo Domingo de la Calzada. When entering the town by car head for this hotel, which is in the old quarter, via Calle Mayor. There is a bollard which marks the entrance to the old quarter.... More
