My friend and I had a pleasant stay at Hotel Central after a week of hiking on the GR10 trail. The staff were friendly and helpful, and we had a very nice room in the back, overlooking the river. Room was clean and quiet, and the hotel is centrally located.

On the outside this hotel looks less than inviting with its dark stone exterior . But walk through the doors and experience a wonderful family venture . Madame is a lovely lady very accommodating and friendly . Her parents have had the hotel for many years since 1939 and her mum is still there helping out . The rest of... More

We stayed here for a night before starting the climb up the Pyrenees at the start of the long distance walk and found the atmosphere so warm and welcoming and the staff so cheerful and helpful. The beds were so comfortable we slept through our alarm. Rooms well equipped. The hotel was in the last stages of refurbishment which in... More

This was the start of our Camino experience, and not the best memory. Luckily everywhere else was good.....There was a mistake made in our booking, and the proprietess could not have been more unhelpful, blatantly lying on numerous occasions over the 2 nights we stayed there. Very, very disappointing. I would not recommend staying here. The town was full, otherwise... More

I spent 2 nights in the central hotel as I was walking on the Jacobs' way; My feeling about this hotel are mixed. The rooms are quite old-fashioned, especially the bathrooms, but they are clean. My room had a view on the river and it was agreeable; The welcoming is not really friendly and the not helpful as I was... More

I got a room overlooking the beautiful river and the waterfall a few metres away. The latter proved to be a problem. Possibly amplified by the walls of the surrounding buildings, the sound was very loud. I could not, as I am used to, sleep with an open window. Even with the windows closed, the sound was disturbing. But I... More

This is a well-located, old-fashioned hotel in the middle of Saint Jean. I tend to stay in 4 or 5 star hotels, but I just like this place and have stayed there several times. It is clean and the staff is very friendly and helpful. The rooms are simple but perfectly comfortable, although the beds are rather hard and the... More

I think the Hotel is 280 years old. So, no lift available. Hard work without a Porter to lift your bags up two flights of stairs. Room was old too and a little run down. What can you expect ? The food in their restaurant was okay. The location in the village is good. The river's weir is right outside... More

We stayed at the Central Hotel in St Jean Pied de Port on the first day of our Camino. The hotel is very central and the building is lovely. We especially liked the floor boards and steps in the hotel. The room we had was a bit basic. The double bed was hard but tired in the middle. The shower... More

We stayed in Hotel Central prior to walking the Camino Frances. The staff were wonderfully welcoming and helpful. The building is amazing and rooms were great. We were very impressed that the room had a bath and was a great way to relax muscles before setting off into the Pyrenees the next day. The hotel is located conveniently to explore... More
