We enjoyed our time here so much that we extended our stay. Francesca and the girls met us and showed us to our new home. It is a delightfully restored old cottage, in keeping with the historic ambience of this picturesque town. Francesca gave us a wonderful briefing to the town and the area which we drew on extensively for... More

Dear Jill, we are first of all happy you keep good memories of your holiday in Scicli and you appreciated our cottage. It is for us very important to let our guests experience the most original and true Scicli suggesting what to visit and discover or what to taste and sip. We love this region, full of colours, old traditions... More

Yes, back again for a third time and it felt as if time had stood still. We arrived by train from Siracusa, and after a leisurely lunch at Caffe Sicilia, we walked round to Piedagrotta, stopping to talk to the friendly tinsmiths near St Bartolomeo. As we walked round the corner to go to Piedagrotta, Francesca was waiting to greet... More

You are definitely part of our family, John and Cath. It is really a pleasure meeting and welcome back friends like you. We feel so lucky. The way you experience Scicli and the surroundings is the best you could. We stayed for 6 nights (2 people) and loved this house. Excellent hosting by Francesca who responded with care with anything we needed. As we didn't rent a car, we made use of buses and trains, with francesca offering us a lift to Sampieri on one of the days. The accomodation is perfect, great location, peaceful and private. The town... More

Thanks Shane for your kind appreciations. I told you how we love Ireland. I feel Irish people and Sicilians, as living on an island, have a lot in common. It has been a real pleasure picking you up at Comiso airport and driving you to Sampieri one day. Being without a rented car, I assume you experienced this part of... More

A relative had asked us where our perfect holiday location would be - Scicli and C'era Una Volta without a doubt. Our second stay here was just as brilliant as our first. Meeting up with Francesca, when we got off the bus from Catania, made it feel as if we had never left. She is the most charming, knowledgeable, and... More

Reading your words, I feel Scicli has become part of your life; and I assume it is really so. I feel simply proud of promoting, my way, this town and this territory, for ages out of any guided tour, an even roughly not mentioned in many important tourist guides. Scicli deserves visitors and friends like you: interested, open minded and... More

This was our third visit to C’era una Volta and we loved it just as much as ever. It is a wonderful place. Scicli is beautiful, lively and unspoilt. The house is charming and perfectly equipped. Francesca is a fabulous host and took us on the most wonderful walk around the town’s churches. We have returned to Britain with fond... More

Dear Alice and John, we cannot do anything else but thanking you for having elected Scicli as ... your second home, as it seems. To our surprise this year more than 50% of our guests/friends choosing "C'era una volta" like you, had already stayed with us at least once. Thanking you we want to thank them all. A presto. We have recently returned to the UK following a wonderful 12-night stay in Francesca's lovely property in beautiful Scicli. We had flown with Alitalia from London City (highly recommended airport and airline!) to Catania, where we explored for a couple of days prior to hiring a car and driving down to Scicli. The drive is straightforward, mostly on an autostrada,... More

Francesca is the best host and goes far beyond what we would expect- Scilcli is perfect if you like small intimate towns , birdsong, greenery and not many tourists and wonderful gleaming limestone baroque architecture. The little apartment is in a delightful location in tiny cobbled street way overlooking the greenery and cave dwellings of the past yet only 4... More

We are a retired American couple spending the year cycling through the Mediterranean and beyond. We stayed here for 5 days, and wish it had been at least twice as long. The house, set in a narrow street, a short walk from the centre of Scicli, immediately felt like home. Make you feel home... but on holiday" is our motto. We simply behaved as we'd like other hosts do when we are on holiday. It is our way of being Sicilians, living in a land historically devoted to hospitality. We are happy you liked the house and appreciated the "melograni".
