This venue was chosen for a family gathering as both food and accommodation were on offer. The hotel is quaint and welcoming. The receptionist told me where my room was (pointing up the staircase) and the accommodation was adequate but nothing special. The bathroom had a generous sized shower but no bath. The shower had good pressure and decent temperature... More

We visited the Old Hall with very good friends of ours to celebrate the start of Xmas '14 and expectations were very high. The outside of the premises look very appealing but sadly the inside does not match the aesthetic clean look of the outside. We were checked in by the owner who could of been a bit more cheerful.... First impressions are great. You walk in to a charming old world building with plenty of character and a roaring fire. The staff are friendly and pleasant, we checked in without a hitch and were promptly shown to our room. The area where the rooms are is not quite as grand and looks a little on the tired side. The... Stayed here for one night and enjoyed a clean room, four poster bed and excellent breakfast. The hotel is located right on the High street, ideal for a village pub crawl! I much prefer this type of hotel to the modern chain alternatives.

I enjoyed my stay here, warm fire in reception, large superior room, comfortable bed, nice en suite, friendly bar and staff and a good menu in the restaurant. The food is quite good. If you like modern chains this place is not for you: no safe available for valuables, they forget the early morning calls, and the wiring is hilarious... More

Stayed over night for our Wedding Anniversary. Reception not clean, staff not at all friendly, particularly the owner who staffs the reception. It is a bit of a cross between a bed and breakfast and an old peoples home! You will get a lot more for your money in the immediate area! Breakfast included is very average, and the service... More

My partner and I stayed here after deciding not to stay at our original hotel (George and Dragon Chester - see review for reasons why!) and what a welcome relief to find such a lovely hotel that still had rooms available at such a short notice. Due to our last experience we left our bags in the car to check... More

A lovely old building in a lovely old village. 'However', that said, it goes seriously downhill from there. The food was terrible vegetable soup starter with 'no vegetables! That tasted like 'bilge water'!! Then my husbands 'medium' fillet steak had to be returned to the kitchen, as it was raw & oozing blood!! . The same piece of steak came... More

Very attractive layout, our room (6) separate living area, en suite, basic amenities, Travel cot set up, but what a hard bed for ourselves ! Room was clean, but lacked that spring clean feel, ie dirty sink in shower which blocked when used and dust on the skirting boards, fairly thick. But I thought good value for £90 inc breakfast....
