My husband and I stayed here after attending a family celebration. There was little to choose from in the area. We used to live here and the old hall always had a good reputation. The rooms were clean and staff helpful but the whole place is a bit tired. It's ok for a night or two.

Do not expect a boutique approach at the Old Hall. It is a rambling set of lounges with furniture that you sink into and cannot fail to relax in. The menu is safe but the food is very well cooked and you will find the portions unfashionably generous. Service is excellent and the wine list although smaller than it used... More

Old hotel with real character in the middle of an old town. Nice bar and the staff are great. Breakfast is really good with a good variation of choice. The bar food menu is very good and very reasonably priced and the food is superb. Rooms a little small but comfortable with free wifi which is a bit slow. Lots... More

I booked afternoon tea for my mum to celebrate her 75th Birthday.I was certainly not disappointed. Having had 2 other afternoon teas for other family celebrations one in Manchester Great John Street Hotel and the other at Grosvenor House Park Lane London I could not help to compare. The Old Hall certainly kept high standards and the sandwiches, cakes and scones... More

Tried this restaurant as they accept discount cards, food was very good the first time I visited (chose the duck), however the 2nd time I wasn't so lucky. The veal was awful, took an age to get my meal so I didn't stay for dessert. I telephoned again to book a table as I like the 'oldie worldy' venue very... More

Having stayed at four hotels over the course of one week and this one was the most expensive by a long way but had the smallest room of all of them. The other downside was the noise from the motorway- not terrible but noticeable. But they must be doing something right as it was fully booked up. The staff were... More

We stayed here for just one evening whilst we were attending a wedding in the area and what a fabulous place it is! Dates back to the 17th century and is extremely quaint inside with little inglenook fireplaces that give it a lovely ambience. The rooms are spacious and extremely comfortable with tea and coffee making facilities. The hotel has... More

lovely old english with leather sofas, beams and fireplaces. all you want want from a traditional english hotel. However, its traditional in the old sense. I feel it more aimed at an older market visiting the Chaser area. My room was comfortable but small. The bed was very comfortable but i feel the bathroom and bedroom furniture were a little... More

Taking an American client on the tour of the North West of England, the Old Hall was the perfect place for the first night's stay. He was overwhelmed by the old beams, low ceilings and general "quaintness" of the hotel. We were welcomed warmly and checked in without fuss. The rooms were in the old part of the hotel, overlooking... More

Old Hall, is a hotel with plenty of character. The entrance is adorned with wood panelled walls and this feature covers the entire ground floor which includes, dining room, reception area and bar. An exquisite timber main staircase is centrally positioned which affords access to all rooms. At the head of the stairs is a large grandfather clock, sadly it was... More
