We had a short and yet a very lovely and welcoming stay at Domaine de La Thiau. Benedicte, the host, was cordial, well-informed about the area and very cordial. The rooms were clean, functional and nicely designed and the garden was breath taking. The outside of the place is a real heaven. The surrounding town is very beautiful - don't... More

We only visited for one night. Would have liked to have stayed longer. Beautiful home in a beautiful setting. Benedicte was a wonderful hostess. She accommodated our very late arrival and made us feel very welcome.

We only stayed a couple of nights but it was wonderful. The location is perfect for exploring the Loire valley - or for running early morning or evening - and the accommodation was just lovely. Such a beautiful setting and the hostess was extremely friendly and helpful. She cooked us a dinner on the first evening which was ideal as... More

The welcome was very friendly, and the place was run very efficiently. Full of character, clean, comfortable. The area was very pretty and interesting. We can recommend a trip to guedelon, a medieval castle in the making. The associated Saint-Fargeau Chateau is also very interesting, but the most interesting parts are not accessible unless you take a guided tour. We... More

Obviously loved by the friendly owner, Bernadette keeps the rooms beautifully clean and takes a pride in her business. The grounds are quiet, romantic and we enjoyed the short cycle rides along the river into Brier and Gien . The peacocks and the local wildlife were a bonus. Really enjoyed this and would definitely stay again.

More

We stayed for three nights with another couple in September 2012 and had a wonderful time. The property is easy walking distance along the Loire towpath (under an hour each way at a fairly leisurely pace) from both Gien and Briare, both of which are worth a visit. The restaurants in Briare, particularly the fish restaurant just round the corner... More

We looked for a nice place to stay for visiting a button exposition in Briare and for a possibility to play golf too. We were very glad to be cordially welcomed by the lady of this beautifull antique country house and the big garden. It was a very pleasant stay with many good advises of the lady for dinner, playing... More

The Domaine itself is a nice cluster of buildings embedded in lovely surroundings -very close to the River Loire. There is a huge fantastic garden belonging to the guest house with access from the conservatory. Unfortunately the condition of the rooms is worn out, the furniture shabby. They need -even with respect to the ancient character of the building- restauration.... More

All the paintings were redone and finished on april, 14, 2012. You even saw that the works were on in the other part of the house....So, paintings are all new from now on. If you don't like the furniture style, why coming to my place ? All pictures on my web site were taken by myself and reflect the exact... More

We stayed there on our way back from Portugal to Germany and I have to say that the two nights we planned were far too short. It is a lovely place, decorated, run and maintained with great dedication and a great heart. Benedicte is an excellent host and she knows everything about the region and provides you with every information... More

A modest distance to the south east of Orleans and to the north of Sancerre and the Burgundy (Pouilly, Saint-Fargeau), at the eastern end of the Valley of the Kings, at only 150 km south of Paris (only 1 hour from Fontainebleau), on the banks of the river Loire between Gien (bone china factory) and Briare (canal bridge), 2 rooms, 2 suites (B&B) and 2 gites (self-catering rentals) await you. The separate guest house, nestled among centuries-old trees, is surrounded by a pleasant park running down to the Loire. Built in the 18th century and entirely renovated in 2012, the wonderful old "Mansart" style manor house stands very close to our home. Independant car park and entrances allow you complete freedom. Our guests are always welcome to enjoy the 7 acres of park with centuries-old trees and flowers, deckchairs, tables, outdoor games for children, tennis and table-tennis. The Loire river can be reached by a private path (300 metres), which is a good starting place for walks or bike-rides. Baby-sitting, bikes renting, animals welcome under restrictions.
