I wrote about this lovely hotel last June and how it would make a great weekend venue for a getaway and my other half, Basil, was listening intently as we have done just that. Out on a Friday from Stansted by Ryanair to Limoges, pick up a car no more than a 100 metres from where you get off the... More

We always try to stop here en-route to south west France - as it is always first class. Yes, the rooms are all a bit whacky and very French! But they are spotless and comfortable, and many are very large. The restaurant is certainly one of the best we have ever found in France, making it an essentail stopover. The... More

I was travelling to Saint-Saud to attend a friend's wedding in the area so booked into to stay at this nearby hotel for 2 nights. I absolutely loved it, the design of the whole hotel is so quirky, lots of colour. The garden was gorgeous, we were blessed with brilliant weather so we had our meals in the garden. Food... More

We stayed three days at this rather fantastic hotel recently. Although the room was a little over the top (all the rooms are different), it was charming and comfortable. The bed was huge. The view from the windows was stunning, and cleverly not over looked by even the hotel garden. What was a total surprise to find was the quality... More

This restaurant is well worth the detour as the food is stunning. We were a party of four and decided to all have the 5 course tapas menu at EUR 50. We realised afterwards they cannot count as we reckon it was at least 7 courses and that then starts a debate about whether the amuse bouche is a course... More

Set in the picturesque village of St Saud: the Hostellerie St Jacques offers excellent accommodation and wonderful 'Michelin Style' menus at reasonable prices. We have stayed there a few times and most recently enjoyed an evening speciality dinner with an overnight stay. A perfect way to celebrate and enjoy a 'petite vacance'... The atmosphere in the newly refurbished restaurant is... More

Friends of ours who have a holiday home opposite us, invited us for lunch in this renowned restaurant. The Daily Telegraph, I am told, recommended this restaurant to its UK readers a while ago. They were absolutely correct to do so. For a set price of €29.50, we all enjoyed a five course meal with wine. The choice for each... More

We enjoyed an afternoon in the hotel's renowned restaurant which aspires to be Michelin standard. Whilst the food is a wonderful eclectic mix of locally prepared delights the service could be better. Presentation is worthy of a Picasso and it is clear that the chef has some skill in what is produced. Price is reasonable for what was on offer... More

We spent three nights at the hotel in a room which had rather over-the-top decor- all in silver but very comfortable. The food was extemely good - superb on our second night. The last night was a little less good - a dish of sweetbreads was not properly prepared - we suspect the chef was away from the stove after... More

To celebrate a special birthday we decided to stay at the Hostellerie. We had stayed there for 2 nights last year and new it was good. We weren't disappointed. We were welcomed with a glass of chapagne and shown to our romm. The room was fab, silver and glittery. The dinner was superb, not quite Michelin star quality yet but... More
