I don't know whether it was the influence of the excellent bottle of Billecart Salmon we extravagantly ordered on arrival, but gazing out from Monrecour's terrace at the lovely Dordogne hills was a wonderful start to our holiday. The surrounding area is truly beautiful, seemingly crammed with other chateaux, award-winning pretty villages and of course the majestic Dordogne itself, flowing... More

A beautiful chateau and grounds. The views from the terrace are lovely. The pool is large with plenty of sun loungers and towels provided. There is also a play area, table tennis and a trampoline. Breakfast is continental but excellent. The first floor of the chateau is one large wood lined room. Wifi is available in the chateau and the... More

We had a family meeting organized over the second week-end of July in the chateau. Beautiful experience, all generations enjoyed it, from the youngest (2 years old) to the grandparents. Very good quality of service, very friendly and cosy feeling. This region of France is very attractive, beautiful villages around, friendly service and english speaking waiters in most of the... This hotel was our home for two nights on a Headwater walking tour. What a wonderful place to come home to and relax after our demanding days. The chateau is beautifully furnished with large spacious rooms and magnificent views. The pool was delightful and a welcome place to relax in the afternoon before enjoying our gastronomic meal outside on the... More

We were travelling through France by car with another couple, and arriving at the gates of the hotel made quite an impact - the Chateau is such an impressive and imposing building, sitting as it does on a hill in the delighful little town of Beynac. The staff were so welcoming, so well-informed about the Chateau's history and their enthusiasm... More

We spent just one night here on our way accross France - what a great surprise it was! The staff could not have been more friendly, the room was clean and well equipped and the surroundings just stunning. We had a lovely meal in the restaurant and will definitely come back in years to come.

I doubt that I will ever stay in a castle with a view of 4 castles ever again in my life, and when you add in the friendliest welcome ever and the superb gastronomique meals, it made our stay here one of our greatest ever travelling experiences in more than 20 years around the world.

This is the second stay at this chateau for our friends and my husband and I. We always enjoy staying here. The chateau is always consistently maintained with excellent and lavishly decorated rooms. The breakfast was delicious and location to other towns and activities was excellent . We look forward to staying here every other year. Don't miss this one... More

We were there in 2009. We, along with the other couple we travel with, took residence in the two private rooms which share a common balcony area that is just for the use of the people in those rooms. The view is magnificent! Castle Beynac is dead ahead. And at sunset, with a bottle or two of vin, you watch... More

This was my second visit to Monrecour. Previous visit in 2011 we stayed in one of the adjoining holiday flats. This time we upgraded to the castle itself. Now keep in mind that the French refer to stately homes as castles, but that's not meant as a criticism of Monrecour. This is a special place in an excellent location to... More
