This was my second visit to Monrecour. Previous visit in 2011 we stayed in one of the adjoining holiday flats. This time we upgraded to the castle itself. Now keep in mind that the French refer to stately homes as castles, but that's not meant as a criticism of Monrecour. This is a special place in an excellent location to... More

We loved this place and the staff and felt that it was good value. The chateau was old and attractive while the staff were young and attractive; and exceedingly helpful with advice and tips and whatever to ensure we enjoyed our stay and what to see when we toured the area. Breakfast was at an additional cost, which was reasonable... More

Be warned - there is no lift, but wide and generaous staircases leading up to the rooms in the main building which are mostly second floor and above. Beautiful, elegant room in one of the corner "towers", large and well furnished with a generous bathroom. Nice staff. We ate in the restaurant which is in a modern annexe - the... More

This is a beautiful hotel with great facilities in an amazing location. There are a number of room options, including the main chateau and the annex, where we stayed. We had a family room which consisted of two bedrooms with double beds and a very large, modern bathroom , as well as a sitting area off of one bedroom. Very... More

We arrived one evening about 8.30pm with no reservation and were "greeted" by a teenage girl who was on the seat of a bike being pedaled by a younger boy up the main drive-way. What a lovely smile she had as she went to try and find someone to help us. In these few moments my wife had fallen in... More

I spent a week here with my family (wife and two kids, 6 and 8) during our stay in the Dordogne. This was a terrific hotel in a great location, with the amenities we needed, operated by helpful, friendly staff. A special thank-you to Chrystelle who was exceptionally helpful and accomodating during our stay, providing a warm greeting, directions and... More

While the property is very beautiful, there are three important factors that you should be aware of: No air-conditioner No elevator Non refundable We booked a privilege room for July 22 and 23, 2013. When we got to the Chateau as son as we entered, the heat hit us... Like going inside a pizza oven. The temperature was 37 Centigrade!... More

Dear Rebecca D. We are so sorry to read your message and to see that our hotel did not meet your expectations. Indeed July has been much warmer than usual. The climate here doesn't usually require air conditioning. The temperatures we've had this July are exceptional in the Dordogne area, and according the METEO FRANCE, it has been the 3rd... More

We stayed three nights in this lovely chateau with its gorgeous setting and friendly staff. We enjoyed the pool at the end of hot afternoons, and the breakfasts and dinners were superb. The only disappointment was the level of traffic noise, especially early in the morning

WE spent 6 weeks in France and this was one of the best places we stayed. Beautiful grand old building in a commanding position with lovely outlook, in one of the most beautiful and interesting parts of the country. Lovely warm greeting on arrival from Chrystalle who came out to meet us, and the other staff were equally friendly and... More
