Staying for just one night on stop over to the Dordogne. Host and staff second to none. Warm welcome, friendly and very efficient staff. Food out of this world. We will certainly recommend Auberge du Cheval Blanc to our friends. Garden and al fresco dining, just a wonderful start to our holiday.

A wonderfully clean & comfortable hotel, with an exceptional restaurant, nestling in the centre of a lovely village. I booked as I was looking for a hotel not far from the Autoroute on my way south, and the location of the Cheval Blanc fitted the bill. The mix of ancient building, modern comforts, and designer touches is well done. The... More

Booked this following sight of excellent reviews. We were not disappointed. Ludvic deserves to succeed he is a wonderful host and chef and speaks excellent English. Probably the best food we have ever had in France served on wonderful Limoges with nothing but the very best service throughout. Cannot recommend this Auberge enough. Our room overlooked the garden and was... More

There was a group of 8 of us stayed here en-route from Spain to Cains. It really is a beautiful place (spotlessly clean!). All credit to Ludvic (boss/chef), he really does pull out all the stops to make sure everyone is happy. The rooms are great with lush toiletries. The food and service was fantastic. I just wish we could... More

Stopped here for one night en route to the limousin . What a find! Beautifully appointed hotel, comfortable rooms, lovely garden/outside dining area. We were greeted on arrival by the boss and chef ludovic. Boy can he cook! The food is wonderful , and ludovic is a charming host.

We decided upon a week-end in the Sologne region of France mainly for the bird-watching opportunities in the area. After reading the reviews on this hotel we decided to give it a try - and we were not disappointed! The room was very well furnished and the en-suite bathroom was generously sized. Everywhere was clean and welcoming. As with most... More

As a stopover between the Channel and the Languedoc this place takes some beating. It is a gastronomic treat, from start to finish. Ludovic, the owner is a Citroen 2CV enthusiast and this added a certain ambience of class to the establishment. The food is outstanding, and worth saving up for. The little 'bonnes mouches' between courses were exquisite. Nothing... More

We used this hotel as a stopover on our way to the Dordoigne from the UK based on a few reviews on here and it lived up to expectations. The rooms are fairly straightforward and quite small but fine for one night, they do however open out on to the main courtyard/restaurant terrace so if it's busy and you want... More

This Auberge is an excellent stopover. The chef/patron worked for several years at Le Gavroche so the food is excellent. Beware of the mark-up on wines. A half bottle of inferior Sancerre (the local white is better) set us back 25 euros. out only other quuibble was that the rooms have no windows, only a glass door with curtain and... More

This is a gem of a small hotel with a superb restaurant. We have stayed there many times over the last few years. Some rooms may be small, but they are perfectly adequate and very comfortable. There are ground floor rooms which involve no use of steps, which can be useful. A few bigger rooms with aircon are available. Service... More
