What HAS happened to the previously excellent Chateau de Pomarede? This is our fourth visit, and we were looking forward to it. Sadly, something has changed and this is not the place it was. We knew at once from the welcome that something was amiss: no offer to help carry our luggage from the car; no explanation as to how... More

We booked this place as a half way point travelling from St.Remy du Provence to Angouleme.Hard place to find, when we did find it and saw the state of upkeep of the outside then the sorry excuse for a Reception Area we should have turned round and made our escape! However, there was no other alternative hotel in the area. Where to... More

We had the misfortune to stay here as our first night of a trip away. No signs to the hotel on the approach. First impressions were dreadful, plastic chairs stacked outside and the entrance to the hotel was what one would expect checking into a very third rate boarding house. The reception area was non existent - a settee and... More

We had the most disgusting experience here today. We actually decided to leave before cheese, desert and coffee. We spent 1 hour waiting for our first course and had drunk our tiny and I mean tiny glass of wine before it arrived. The portion was extremely small and was eaten in minutes. We then waited another hour waiting for our... More

A terrible welcome. We actually thought we had come to the wrong place. There were plastic chairs stacked outside and the chef was slumped in a plastic chair in the "reception". Led through dingy corridors to our 140Euro room we were astonished to be shown a tiny, dingy, smelly (cigarettes?) room with a dirty net curtain at the window obscuring... More

Best dinner we had in a while. Excellent and very nice staff. Thank you, and especially the nice maitre d'hotel, for helping us with the bikes :). Very nice swimming pool, amazing location. The only thing we missed was an airconditioning. It can be very warm in summer.

Wow! Had a fine dinner here 20th September. Gerald Garcia heads a formidible team. The food was excellent, the service superb. The setting is wonderful, in a small castle type courtyard with high walls, a moat etc. The only negative comment I would make is that the serving staff almost appear over attentive? as if ruled by fear rather than... Beautiful old building, quite dark inside, but had a lovely feel. The bedroom was comfortable, but it was really hot on the evening and there wasn't a fan or a/c. The pool was lovely and the owner / head chef gave us a lift to the pool area on a golf buggy, which was nice. The show stopper is the... More

We enjoyed our stay in this hotel very much but in particular the dinner we had here was wonderful-ok it was expensive but worth the money. As for the hotel it is charming. A little difficult to find as it is quite a way from Castelnaudary down some small windy roads - better to arrive in daylight if you can!... More

My husband and I are crazy for Cathare's history! that's why we have choosen this place. Pictures were nice on the internet but the reality was much more better. A wonderfull place, the hotel, the restaurant, the staff... everything was high class level ! Thanks to the chef and his wife for the stay we had in their hotel.

Dans un superbe château cathare du XIe siècle, Nathalie et Gérald Garcia vous convient à leur table et vous offrent, le temps d’une pause gourmande, de goûter à leurs spécialités.
