We nearly stayed here during our recent visit to Barra but unfortunately chose another hotel. Wish we'd stayed at Castlebay Hotel instead and would definitely do so on another visit. We had dinner there one night and it was exceptional. The restaurant was fully booked (usually a good sign!) so we ate in the bar but this was fine and... more

We stayed here 2 nights and we were pleased with our room although we only had a standard sea view room. The staff are very helpful and friendly, and we ate in the dining room both nights. The food was fine but we found the prices for the wines to be very high even for the Western Isles! The setting... more

The hotel is situated so close to the ferry terminal that after a ferry journey that resulted in a sea sick passenger, it was such a welcome sight. After staying in a single room last time on business, I decided that a superior room for a family break would be a good choice. These hotel rooms are not huge but... more

having stayed in other locations in Barra I found this an above average hotel. Nice food in restaurant. Great views over the castle Good location though in all fairness Barra is a small island so getting around is not really a problem. more

This hotel has a commanding view over the scenic bay at Castlebay, the town of Barra. The five front-facing rooms have views over Barra/Vatersay you would never tire of (there is something romantic and reassuring about watching the CalMac ferry arriving from the mainland). Our room (10) was small and unremarkable, although had obviously been modernised, as it had a... more

Stayed for two nights and had the MacNeil room - what a view! Open the curtains and you have a castle and a ferry at the bottom of the garden! The room itself was huge, spotless and had a jacuzzi bath. We even had some laundry done, which was one of the bargains of our holiday and returned to us... more

Pleasant hotel. Great view from our room. Would have liked a hotter shower, but adequate. Furniture could have been a little more modern but that's a minor thing. Friendly and helpful staff who helped with our flights. Humourous and friendly manager or owner. Good dinner. Good breakfast. Clean. Some better signposting to the hotel would have helped. A good place... more

Straight of the boat and straight into the hotel - couldn't be easier. The room (Room 10) was modern , tasteful and clean and what a view - overlooking the harbour and castle. The staff were particularly helpful and friendly and the food was both plentiful, tastey and with wide choice of dishes. Good value for money and would definitely... more
