Very nice, clean and comfortable hotel with an amazing view over Kissimul Castle and beyond. Ideally situated for the ferry from Oban and late check in (9.30pm) was not a problem. Great selection for breakfast. Will definitely stay again next time we visit Barra

I stay quite frequently at the Castlebay hotel and have always found it clean, comfortable and warm. The staff are helpful and friendly and the food is always good. The view from the front facing rooms and public rooms are excellent. I particularly like the sun room overlooking the bay, although it can be a distraction when working!

1st time on the island and apart from the work really enjoyed the hotel. Staff were great and very helpful. Ferry came in late and dinner was finished but they managed too rustle me up scampi and chips which was delicious! I had a twin room and the bed i picked lent to one side but was still comfortable. I can't imagine you will find a better hotel on Barra. I priced around 3 hotels and got the best deal here, with breakfast included. I found my room to be comfortable, clean and tidy. Breakfast was excellent, cooked to order and a good selection. Not greasy at all. The lassie on the desk was friendly and the wee sunroom... More

Hotel is a bit dated but adds to the charm. Paper thin walls meant we could hear people in adjoining rooms using the bathroom. Views were great and the staff friendly but the restaurant let the hotel down. We ordered the liver pate and someone should mention to the chef that the livers should be cooked first and it completely... More

Was staying here whilst visiting island for a wedding. Staff were friendly and helpful, saving the day with an iron and ironing board for ironing my husbands shirt. Rooms were clean and tidy could do with a bit of modernisation, however quite large and comfortable. There was plenty of tea and coffee in room and biscuits only think no bottled... More

Good location close to the centre of Castlebay. Our bedroom was a bit dated and cheaply furnished and fitted and had a big spider sitting on top of our pile of towels when we arrived. Our room overlooked the hillside but the view was rather spoiled by a big metal shed in the foreground. Restaurant food was good and service... More

We had the McNeil room which was fine except for the Jacuzzi which did not function properly. We did receive compensation for this. The food was good but the service left a lot to be desired. The waitresses are nice girls but need to be trained on how to do their job.

This hotel has one of the friendliest staff I have ever had the pleasure to meet. From reception to housekeeping everybody was cheerful and willing to answer any questions from people from the mainland. The rooms are spacious and clean as is the conservatory, lounge and other public areas. The food is exceptional and quite obviously fresh and cooked to... More

Arrived from the ferry at 20.30. warm welcome and offer of dinner even at that time. Room was comfortable and the breakfast good. hard to judge a hotel from such a short stay (one night) but I've stayed here before so rebooked on the grounds that it fitted the bill. £69 seemed a lot for a single room but £65... Hi Kerrycyclist, Thank you for your recent review. As you can appreciate living on an island is a bit more expensive than on the mainland. We are happy that you chose to come back and stay with us and hope that you come back in the near future. Kind Regards More
