On first impression the hotel is set on the hill in a stunning location overlooking Castlebay, you either climb stairs at the front of the hotel or go round the back to the car park through the door into the small hallway to reception. At the time of writing this review September 2015, the hotel has recently been purchased by... More

We arrived after confusion at our booked B&B Tigh Na Mara, we were lucky that had capacity for our group of 4. Everything Okay, can be a bit expensive if booked on Booking.Com, but they made allowance for our predicament. Warm welcome and departure.

Back in the Craigard Hotel for the first time in a few years, and it is under new management. The hotel has been extensively refurbished and dramatically improved with some simple touches, but it retains the same fantastic atmosphere. The view over the Castle and the bay from the front windows is still one of the most beautiful views in... More

The Barra ferry arrives in most days around 8:30pm in the evening and if you don't like driving in the dark in a strange place, then this hotel is an ideal stopping point. It is less than a minute from the ferry terminal and was therefore welcome after a 5 hour journey. I stayed in room 3, which overlooks the... More

Fab hotel, room was spacious and clean, we were lucky and had a lovely view of the castle in the bay !! Breakfast was lovely, we had lunch one too, and they were very helpful in serving us a bit earlier than they normally start. We were there for a wedding, which was help in the conservatory, which was dressed... More

We had a superb dinner here at the Craigard on a lovely clear summer evening. I know this magic might not always be the case, but with such a commanding iew over the castle and the bay, it was hard to beat. Staff were friendly and the food was excellent, with several specials, including some lovely local lobster. Had the... More

Awful !! booked in advance, staff didn't tell us our room was above the bar where live music would be playing until 1 in morning. No sleep and up for early ferry. Over priced for what is really a pub with rooms and a noise level which is intolerable in the early hours of the morning!! Won't ever be back... More

This hotel is a real treat. Our room had the best available views of the harbour and was very comfortable. We received a warm welcome from the helpful and informative receptionist. We loved the room and it was difficult to leave for dinner. Rooms are sizeable and beds comfy. Free on site parking and free WIFI are added plusses.

My friend and I visited the hotel for an evening meal and enjoyed THE best sirloin steaks I've ever tasted! The entire meal was fresh, beautifully cooked and extremely tasty and served by waitresses who were just delightfully friendly and efficient and the dining room was spotlessly clean and very welcoming. My only gripe would be that the main course... More
