I visited the Craigard for both lunch and dinner and was very impressed with the level of service the staff were warm and friendly and the service was quick. The staff went out of their way to make sure you were okay and couldnt do enough to help. The standard of food was excellent and a lot of there food... More

searching castlebay/Barra for a TV to watch football (World Campionships semi) we found the Craigard very welcoming. 3 of us were "under age" for the public bar where most TVs are in hotels, so we had a problem. Not a problem for the lovely Craigard manager who diverted from his very urgent fridge repair in order to tune the TV... More

I didn’t stay at the Craigard but I treated myself to lunch and an evening meal here. For lunch I had jacket potato & haggis. Wow… the food was so tasty. I was full but could’ve kept on eating! For my evening meal I had a steak pie. The evening meal wasn’t as nice as my lunch. I was full... More

I have stayed in this hotel several times over the years and have to say what an amazing improvent with the new owners. Warm friendly staff and a bright atmospher to the place now. Although the island almost goes to sleep in the winter the hotel still had a buzz about it with a great band on for entertainment .... More

Barra is a very small island and so the fairly basic little hotel perhaps reflects the fact that visitors are not that plenty here. We had a good night's sleep mainly because the area is very quiet, although the hotel rooms are by no means soundproof. The view from our room was stunning as was that from the dining room... More

You enter the building through a passageway that is not very enticing, we left early and it was also very dark. The staff on reception and in the bar we could not fault, friendly, cheerful and doing the best that they could. But you cannot make a silk purse out of a sows ear! The room, dusty rather than dirty,... More

A friend and I had dinner here on Tuesday night while staying at the Castlebay Hotel. The entrance is hidden down a back alley and the whole place looks rundown. The menu was basic but had enough variety. The waitress was very friendly and attentive, just a shame the food wasn't the same. I had a gammon steak with chips.... More

we didn't actually stay here , we ate in the restaurant on a couple of occasions but can't find where to review the food and restaurant side, we ate here two nights on the run and the food was fine, the only little complaint if it is one, when we went in we'd never been before and wasn't sure what... Stayed at the hotel from Friday to Sunday inclusive with my friend and other guests. We were there for a family party in the area. We were greeted by the owner who carried our bags upstairs. It is a wonderful family run hotel. They made us feel at home. If you are visiting make the effort to make friends with... More

Only visited for an evening meal. Food was very good and well presented. Menu not as extensive as the Castlebay Hotel, but still worth a visit. It should be noted that there are only 3 evening restauarants in Castlebay.
