Our schedule saw us fly in from Dunedin, via Christchurch to Nelson late afternoon, pick up a hire car and drive over Takaka Hill to Golden Bay. It’s quite a drive. By the time we reached Takaka (the town) we needed to stop for a meal break and then, with darkness falling, completed the last leg of our journey to... More

Thank you for taking the time to write such an extensive review. Glad that you enjoyed the relaxed style and the quality of our breakfast set up. We're sorry about the limited TV channels; we have since updated our system to give better quality viewing and now have 12 channels to choose from. Thank you for the feedback about some... More

Glorious drive to get to Adrift, and we felt instantly like we were in paradise as we came up the long drive way. We received a warm and unhurried welcome from Gordon, were helped with our luggage and shown to our cottage. Oh what a fantastic view from the rooms. The kitchen was very well equipped and had everything we... More

You need to stay here. The cottages provide fantastic luxuries, unparalleled views, delicious breakfasts, and an ideal private setting. They are also perfectly located to explore the stunning landscape that surrounds the Golden Bay and Abel Tasman areas. Would highly recommend this.

We had a really lovely time here - a proper honeymoon type experience. Relaxed, unhurried, but with all the right touches. Despite having to ford floods to get to Adrift (unusually fierce cyclone!) the sun came out and we were able to completely relax in this wonderful place. We loved how easy it was to get to the beautiful beach,... More

We're so pleased that you enjoyed the beginning of your honeymoon with us after having to endure the delay caused by the tail end of the cyclone that affected New Zealand. It was a delight chatting with you both and thanks for taking the time to write your review and all the best for your new life together! More

If you're going to stay in Golden Bay, this is the only choice. We had the honeymoon cottage, which is the best of them -- a bit more private and secluded with its own "front yard" and wonderful lounge chairs to hang out in and watch the water. The breakfasts (delivered the afternoon prior) are plentiful and the rooms were... More

Thank you very much for your feedback. Glad you enjoyed our Honeymoon Cottage. We have installed a new Wi-Fi system since your stay which even reaches to parts of the beach! Our previous system struggled, particularly connecting with smart phones. We have just now been able to get rural broadband (ADSL), so we no longer need to limit data use... More

This was my second visit to Adrift. The standard of the cottages is vey high and they are extremely clean. Even though the cottages were full you would not know you had neighbours. A lovely sound waking up to the waves on the beach. The breakfast is presented lovely.

Adrift Paradise found We needed some respite time on our tour and Paul Carberry of New Zealand in Depth said 4 nights at Adrift in Golden Bay was the ideal tonic and base to recharge batteries, he was of course correct yet again. We stayed for 5 nights in the Honeymoon Cottage and loved it! Our hosts and their family were welcoming and very helpful when we needed it, keeping discretely out of our way most of the time. Our breakfast basket was quietly delivered each day with fresh fruit, often from the garden, yoghurt, juice, bread and eggs, bacon, mushrooms and tomatoes... More

We stayed in the studio apartment in January 2014. The location is pristine and the owners are wonderful. Gordon was very nice and helpful. They provided us with a barbeque and a kayak during our stay. For breakfast, we got muesli, fruits, bread, milk, juice and preserves. We wished we got a little change in the breakfast in those 4...
