We really enjoyed our stay at The Rocks, the room was spotless and nice and warm too. the surroundings are perfect your close enough to the centre of Takaka but far enough away for it to be nice and quiet too. The owner went out of her way to make it a really nice experience. I definitely recommend this place.

Our original plan was to just pass through Takaka so we only booked one night in the Quail room. When we arrived, the hosts upgraded us to the Kerere room- which was really nice, spacious and warm (once the heat pump had been on for a bit!). The setting of the chalets is stunning- natural rock formations and rolling hills... More

I am normally not a person who writes reviews but I do think this establishment just needs to be known to more people in our region. We had a great overnight stay in one of their cosy, clean, quit and very comfortable chalets. We decided to have our evening meal at the restaurant which was the best decision ever! The... More

Highly recommend the Pukeko unit at The Rocks Chalets - it's quality accommodation at a reasonable price, very private & quiet. Pat & Chris were very gracious hosts and we enjoyed dining at their restaurant as well. We were very glad we chose to stay & eat here during our first ever visit to Takaka. No hesitation staying here again... More

You should not miss the opportunity to stay here if you are visiting Golden Bay. The Chalets are well-positioned on the site and are quite spacious and well-appointed. There are also private patio areas attached to each chalet. The on-site restaurant offers excellent food with a good menu selection, well-served in a friendly atmosphere. The site itself is well maintained... More

Not only was this a gem of a find as a hotel, but the restaurant of the same name was outstanding - both operated by the warm, welcoming husband and wife team that runs OTR. The rooms are very spacious, clean and well appointed, but you just get a feel that you are in your own private place - nestled... More

Most wonderful property to stay at in our 21 day NZ trip. Chris and Pat are friendly and gracious hosts and the accommodations are fantastic. Combine this with the Eatery on property with spectacular chef Chris made this the most enjoyable, peaceful and cost effective accommodations we had in our entire trip -- a must!!

The main business of the Rocks seems to be its rather good restaurant. But there are also a few chalets in the grounds, and detached chalets always make a nice change from standard motel rooms. Our chalet (I don't know if they're all the same) had a large living room/bedroom and a huge and very stylish bathroom area which included... More

We absolutely loved our chalet at The Rocks. As well as being spacious, spotless and comfortable, the eye-appeal was outstanding. Unusually for a motel, the bed had a footboard, ensuring the bedding did not escape off the end as often happens. Don't ever change that, Chris and Pat! The amazing rock formations around the property are great fun to explore... More

Thanks for your comments pleased you liked the overall space have considered coffee tables before but on second thoughts it takes up the space to pull out the double sofa bed. We booked one night and ended up staying four! Owners, Chris and Patty had such vision to build these independent free standing chalets strategically placed around these huge rock outcroppings. The grounds are gorgeous with various fruit trees in abundance and wonderful caves to explore. Each bungalow is very private and has a free standing barbecue. Just ask for your... More
