Being ocean front is great but the cabins are right next to other cabins, however it is easy to walk to an empty beach. The waves are not for children but lovely for just experiencing their strength. The cabins have windows that cannot be closed which causes a need for the mosquito nets. The nets in our cabin didn't allow... More

If you are a lonely planet type traveller you will love this. I was looking for a quiet place on the beach and this was perfect. The beachfront cabanas are good, but they only have a double bed, which was ok for me because I was travelling alone, but might be a bit to cosy for 2 Americans or Canadians.... More

12 cabins on one of the best parts of the beach on a stretch on the edge of town. 4 ocean view cabins and like 5 2 story cabins on second row. Stayed in both and really would prefer the cabins on the back: more space, nicer decoration. Front row cabins need some TLC as well does the palapa/breakfast area.... More

Not luxury but perfect for an authentic, minimalist beach experience. Julien has it absolutely right - who needs frills when the Pacific roars right outside your cabana and you step off the deck straight onto a stunning beach. Hamacs to hang out in, good coffee to wake up with, simple pleasures served with care and no unnecessary intrusion. A place... More

We stumbled on this beach, this hotel, all of it. Julian, the owner, is super, super cool and helpful. They also run a lovely restaurant next door. Coffee is available early (the only place in Mexico before 9 we were able to get it on this trip). The grounds are clean and cabanas very nice. This is my new favorite... More

Nice Cabañas in two rows directly on the beach. Unfortunately we had to move from our first-row-cabaña to one in the second after night because someone reserved it. So try to book in advance. The view from your bed to the waves is unbeatable. The Owners are a nice french couple who do anything to make your stay as pleasent... More

We took the overnight bus from Oaxaca to Pochulta and taxi’d on to San Agustinillo. The bus isn’t a bad trip considering you get a decent ‘bed’ for the night (depending on how many snorers you have around you!), it’s less than 300MX for the ride and you know you can collapse either 1) in a nice comfy bed or... Julien and his beautiful wife (whose name slips my mind) were perfect hosts and the staff were all excellent. We stayed at one of the beachfront huts and it was an eco-tourism dream. Every night, we went to sleep to the sound of crashing waves and every morning we woke up to breakfast from Un Sueno's staff (one of the... More

We went to un sueno just for one night. We had a 2nd floor cabana, so we didn't have the ocean front location (some people think that's a necessity if you are on the beach, others say the surf is too noisy to sleep, a personal call, I think!). We didn't mind walking the 10 metres to the sandy, pristine... More

Attributes: - some rooms are right on the beach (would only recommend the 4 cabañas on the front row) - nice restaurant/hangout area - cheap Considerations - dirty (cockroaches/ants on room/bathroom, no change of linens) - lack of maintenance (old sheets/towels, oxide on faucets) - poor service (management more concerned on booking/accommodating new guest than servicing existing) With nicer options...
