5th visit in as many years and Kalu's just gets better. The new manager Rajeeva Mendis has just improved what was already a great hotel. New chef, new food but still the friendly welcome and the relaxed atmosphere that Kalu's has always offer each time we have visited... it is by far our favourite hotel in Sri Lanka and we... More

This is the most beautiful tranquil hideaway. The grounds are beautifully kept, different from the norm with a river tended veg gardens trees and spa. The rooms are amazing plenty of attention to detail and the staff are so lovely. It is mins away from the safari park too.

We stayed here 1 night during our safari to udawalawa national park. This hotel is owned by former sri lankan cricketing sensation romesh kaluwitarane. Kalu's hideaway's staff welcomed us warmly into the hotel. We chose a room in the 2nd floor with a balcony which has a view of the small pool they have. Dinner choices were limited(may be due... Mr Rajeeva Mendis, resident manager, runs a lovely resort of 15 rooms surrounds by lush gardens and views of the mountain. Near by Unawalewe jungle safari, where you see lots of elephants and birds and near an elephant orphanage. The masseur is outstanding. The food is excellent. It even has an infinity swimming pool. We highly recommend this resort.

We stayed for 2 nights to see the wildlife in the park which was very good, lots of baby elephants and wonderful bird life. We had a room on the 2nd floor of the new block which was a good size with a clean and modern bathroom. As always in Sri Lanka nothing gets maintained after initial building and decorating.... More

Arrival was welcoming though a bit slow. On arrival at room, the room was really hot and it took ages for it to cool down, rooms should surely be cooled prior to guests arrival? No minibar/fridge to cool water. On reporting this to reception, was asked why do you need a fridge you're only here for one night!! One of... More

We had 1 night at this hotel so we could visit Ude Walawe N.P and the Elephant Transit Home. It was a good base. I'd read some of the Tripadvisor reports and was a bit anxious about what the hotel would be like but I have to say it was better than expected. Our room was on the ground floor... More

We spent two nights at this well located hotel for our Safari in the Uda Walawe National Park. The staff were welcoming and the food is very good. Rooms are comfortable and we had a balcony with views over the gardens. The decor is a little tired but overall we had a great stay and we were well looked after.... More

We spent three nights at this peaceful hotel, just the job after a ten day tour. Staff are so helpful and welcoming and made us feel at home. The food is delicious and cooked by the best chef in Sri Lanka. Rooms are spacious and comfortable. I would indefinitely recommend staying here for several nights as there is so much... More

This hotel has all the facilities you need. The staff are really lovely and welcoming. The swimming pool is small but still swimmable! Rooms have air con and are very clean. The food is also excellent and served with a smile! I would stay here again and recommend it to fellow travellers who aren't expecting a top class hotel but... More
