I went here with few of my friends for our office trip. The place was poorly managed and the most of locks in the doors are not working and when we asked about it from reception they said that's how they are. Also the lunch was good but the breakfast and the dinner was not good, the tea they gave was mostly water. The pool haven't being cleaned for days. Wash room was not clean as well. Definitely not a place to visit.

We stayed here on our first night in Sri Lanka. Slightly strange as we seemed to be the only guests (they had an event on that day it seems so weren’t accepting bookings - perhaps they forgot this when we booked?). The rooms were adequate - quite large and comfy beds. The whole place is slightly run down but that adds to the charm. The pool was good. Again, 15-20 years ago would have been fantastic but was showing its age now. The food was fantastic though. Evening curry was delicious and breakfast was great. As a place to stay for a stopover, this is an ideal hotel.

Stayed here as part of a pre arranged your via a travel company in UK so we did not know what to expect. The rooms were very basic, very orange! The AC in the room worked, even if it worked a little too well! The air blew super cold and onto our faces in bed, when we tried to adjust the swing it didn’t work so we had to manually adjust this by moving the fan on the unit! Only redeeming feature was the food which was good, even if it did take a long time to be served a drink. Do not expect much from the property.

Oh boy, what can I say about this place. My Mom always said, “if you have nothing nice to say, don’t say anything at all”. Sorry Mom, but I have to rant. This place was pretty bad. First thing, no king beds (they pushed together 2 twin beds). If this was the only problem, I wouldn’t complain. But it wasn’t. I went to call the operator to complain about the bed and the line was cut in the room. The four of us went down for drinks, it took over half an hour and three times asking to get the drinks. We had dinner there: very little vegetarian options. But besides that, it took an 1 1/4 hours to get our meals. My friend ordered a tomato and cheese omelette. She got an omelette with just eggs and onion. They didn’t even take their mistake off the bill. On the last night, our a/c froze up and leaked a small lake into our room. I was very VERY lucky it didn’t get my computer or other electronics. And we woke up hot as Hades. The grand finale was they tried telling us their credit card machine was down and that we had to pay cash. After about 20 minutes of arguing, they charged our credit card. My belief is that they didn’t want to pay the credit card fees. The woman working the desk was friendly and didn’t understand a word I said. She just smiled and nodded at me when I complained about the dinner service. The place looks like it was nice in its heyday. Now, it’s pretty run down. The best time we had there was giving out candy and pens to the local children and going into the city. The hotel had nothing to do with that though. OK, one nice thing, they had their own gem mine which we got a tour of. That was this hotel’s (and I use that term loosely) one redeeming quality. That and the gem shop. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have my cat stay at this hotel. I like my cats.…

We spent three nights at the beginning of our holiday with Travel Bird and I remember it with fondness. Our room was large, with a beautiful garden view and a good size balcony. The food we had was always lovely, hot and well cooked, probably the best we had at any hotel we stayed at. The restaurant staff provided excellent service and were really friendly. Our cooking session, provided by the hotel chef, was a hoot from start to finish, washed down with plenty of Lion beer. Sri Lankan wine is expensive and not recommended. The hotel is within a short walking distance of a gem mine, though not a great deal to see, one of many small concessions in this part of Sri Lanka.

Ratnaloka tries to put you in that hotel no matter which hotel you've actually booked. Ours was the Centauria Hill Resort. First they told us it was full then several other reasons. As it turned out it was significantly better. The Ratnaloka Inn is veeery dated, with mouldy bathrooms and noisy AC. If you have the chance don't stay there!! The only plus is the very nice garden.

The service was a bit lacking when you wanted a beer around 5 oclock and the wine was terrible but apart from that the bedrooms were fine with a lovely comfy bed and the best Nasi Goreng we had anywhere

We are a group of 23 that travelled with Travel Bird. This hotel was our third stop. The staff are friendly, the room was spacious.Yes the shower did flood the floor & yes the water was brown, but you have take in where you are. The pool was nice, you can get towels at the pool.Wear flip flops as can be slippery. We all ate together as a group. The food was a little cold but nothing to complain about. Lion beer approx £2.50 per pint bottle.Wine very expensive all over Sri Lanka, buy in town for £7 approx, red or white. You can drink it on your huge balcony & watch the sun go down at 6.30pm

This was the first hotel we visited during our 2 weeks tour in Sri Lanka and stayed here for 3 nights. When arriving in the hotel we were first given an old room in the old wing. Problems started already before even entering the room. The door of our room could not be opened with the key, technical department solved the problem by opening the door with a knife ! When entering the room you could immediatly smell the sewage and old smell in the room. The carpet was old, full with stains and didn't see a vacuum cleaner in a long time. Toilet did not flush, no television in the room but the worst of all was the bathroom. Holes in the bathtub, sink hanging loose from the wall. Since we needed to stay here for 3 nights I went to the reception and told them I was not staying in this room. First we were told there were no other rooms available but they would try the day after.... We went to lunch and when going back to the room we could not get the door closed anymore. since we did not feel safe with the problems with the locks we went again to the reception and then they proposed us another room. The new rooms are in another wing above the restaurant and are much better. Nice terras, tiles instead of carpet and a sort of clean bathroom. Food was ok not a big choice but tasty. Outside the hotel nothing to see or do within walking distance.…
