If you plan to visit France you must visit Normandy and you must stay at the Chateau de Colombieres! It is a step back in time! The castle dates back to the 14th century. It has turrets and a moat! It is a family home and you will feel like family when you visit. We visited for two nights in September 2011. Our... More

I cannot say enough about our experience at the Chateau de Colombieres. Begining with the host M. Mapeau who was lovely, warm and very helpful, the experience was perfection and authentic from start to finish. The castle and the grounds are magnificent, the room: which was the Watchman's Tower, was roomy and extremely comfortable for our family. The breakfast was... More

We stayed at the Chateau for several nights in September 2010. This area of Normandy has abundant historic sites, and the location of the Chateau is excellent for easy and quick access to these many sites, such as Bayeux, Caen, WWII sites along the Normandy beaches, Chateau de Balleroy, and more. Bottom line: this is a delightful place to stay... More

This chateau is a special place, with history you can feel all around. This is a hidden gem and will always have a place in my heart. Charles shares his family history, Normandy history and our American history at the chateau with a passion that cannot be expressed in words or pictures. This chateau is in the perfect location for... More

We were treated royally by our host Charles. He shared his family's history and the history of the chateau. We were offered a welcoming glass of wine in the courtyard and a tour of his private WW2 history project. Our room was so special. Louis 14th decor. We are recommending it to all of our friends. Merci Charles More

My first trip to France was planned with great detail. The stop I most eagerly awaited was this Chateau, even though it was my fourth day in France. I was in awe as soon as we saw this beautiful chateau; even more impressed after meeting Charles. He welcomed us on a cool April evening with a fire in the kitchen,... More

Maybe it was the gorgeous setting in the countryside surrounded by lush trees or maybe it was the stunning castle protected by its ancient moat or perhaps it was the luxurious room in the tower or quite possibly it was the warm hospitality of Count Charles, the owner but whatever it was Chateau de Colombieres has a magical elegance and... We enjoyed a fabulous stay at the chateau this fall. Our host, Charles, and his family were delightful and very helpful in assisting us with planning our visit to local sights. One of the highlights was sipping champagne in the medieval kitchen next to a roaring fire. My relatives have not stopped telling everyone they know about the amazing time... More

The Chateau has a wonderful history. It is very quiet and seems remote, yet is only a few miles to the D-Day beaches and to the town of Bayeux. Mr. Etienne de Maupeou is a charming host and we enjoyed talking with him about his life, his family and the chateau history. His recommendations for restaurants were also excellent. Mont... More
