We booked our stay for one night on our tour on the garden route and still regret our decision ... we should have stayed way longer. A decent, fully equipped cabin for the family and a lot of things to do. A beautiful landscape, accompanied with the wonderful food other travellers have mentioned frequently. We had a wonderful evening with... More

At least twice a week I think back on our stay in this beautiful Western Cape area. It was one of the many highlights of our trip through South Africa. Just crazy!. Skeiding is a great place if you're a fan of beauty, hospitality and good food. Sitting in front of our room next to the farm we enjoyed the... More

We loved our stay here! Our kids 3 & 6 years old got a real view on farmlife, combined with nice people, facilities and food. We witnessed shape shearing, ostrich farming, rescueing of a lamb, kittens and much more. Evenings were good company and really nice foods.

Stayed here for one night in April 2014 on our way up the Garden Route. Lovely quiet location in rolling countryside, and only ten minutes off the main highway. Very easy to find. Our room was well equipped, clean and tastefully decorated. Anne-Lize and Neels were very welcoming and cooked us a wondefrul dinner in the evening ( kudu carpaccio... More

My wife and I stayed here for one night en route from Knysna to Franschoek; if only we had been able to stay longer! The setting of the farm is beautiful, the peace and quiet so relaxing and the welcome so friendly - just like straying in the home of a friend. Dinner taken on the terrace was memorable with... More

Although our accommodation was a little tired (we stayed in Red Bishop), our welcome was wonderful. Dinner was an opportunity to meet the other guests and our hosts were very hospitable. Food was very imaginative and tasty. We got up early to join the ostrich and sheep feeding which was very interesting. Breakfast was brilliant. A great place to relax.

Thank your for your kind and soft words. We are definitely aware of the fact that there are some "tired" areas in the establishment. Actually we were already fully prepared for the necessary renovations that are needed, but just waiting for the room to be empty for two or three days in a row. Which we had this week and... More

Don't be put off by the drive on a dirt road to reach the farm. Your experience at Skeiding will complete your SA experience. A warm welcome, great food, a chance to meet new people as you enjoy a mouth watering evening meal. An unexpected surprise was the early morning farm tour by Neels - the proud owner. I have... More

At Skeiding Guestfarm they make sure that there is thought about every little detail. The owners try to always make sure to welcome every new guest, the cottages are amazing, not to start about the breakfast and dinner they are serving. They do serve dinner and breakfast and for that alone you should really want to stay there a couple... More

It took us a bit until we reached Skeiding because we were a little afraid of doing a damage to our rental car on the dirt road. Once there we were warmly welcomed by the dog Dixie and also the friendly people of the farm. The dinner was delicious and rich and also the breakfast. Neels gave us an interesting... More

We arrived from Cape Town just before dark. Although the farmhouse is a little off the main road, the track to it is well maintained. We received a very warm welcome and were shown straight to our two rooms which were interconnecting in the main building (Ossie and Blue Crane). We loved the extra touches such as the ostrich skin... Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Skeiding is one of those places that you fall in love with for no reason ... maybe it's the absolute peace and tranquillity or the panoramic views of the Langeberg mountains or the bright stars at night or the mouth watering food or the goodness of being close to nature ... that makes you want to come back. Situated on high, open, rolling terrain you experience the feeling of freedom and being kind of alone with no neighbour in sight. Skeiding is a working grain, sheep, ostrich and Nguni farm … close to the N2 and halfway (250 km) between Cape Town and Knysna. This makes us the ideal stopover. A friendly family farm, an education for city slickers, a place to relax and enjoy panoramic mountain views as the farm is situated on high, open rolling terrain. We Neels and Anné-Lize is two energetic people who love life …you need to be to run a farm, a young family (Anné and Pieter), two dogs (Dixie and Jessie), a cat (Tierkat) and a guesthouse in the same lifetime.Spoil yourself and stay Bed & Breakfast or even better, have dinner. Our sumptuous farm breakfast include : a plate of fruit in season, at least a dozen homemade preserves and jams, freshly baked bread, vetkoek ( a traditional farm fried bread), a cheese platter, cereals, yogurt, eggs and also a choice between ostrich and pork bacon..Enjoy home cooked country cuisine prepared by Anné-Lize and her small team of able and enthusiastic assistants. Neels is the meat “chef” on the open fire, unless farm work calls him away. A three course ... more   less
