Decided to stay away from downtown Bordeaux for the fear of parking (so no Regent Bordeaux for me, although I must say the lunch at the Regent was worth the money). So, having found this location through Relais & Chateaux, I decided to give this place a try. It was definitely a good experience. Location is only about 15 minutes... more

It is my first note on Trip Advisor , and the reason why I'm writting it is because I owe so much to this site, that I have to contribute . Here is a hotel from the Relais et Chateaux famous hotel network, red in the Michelin guide, so we expected the best. We spent 2 nights in a delux... more

The Saint-James Hotel came to our rescue when our confirmed reservation in Bordeaux was overbooked. We had considered this hotel in planning our trip, but had not selected it based on its website, which is professional, but has an edgy design that did not convey to us how nice the property is. The hotel is in the style of the... more

the hauterive saint james is a beautiful hotel, with very interesting architecture. if you're not into mixes of materials or modern takes on hotel architecture, then you may find the rooms a little cold, but I loved it. we had a beautiful room looking over the vineyard and further down over bordeaux. there was a glass wall separating the bath... more

We stayed at the Hauterive Saint James for two nights in August 2007 and loved every minute of our stay here. The hotel is located in a pretty little village called Boulliac, on a hill overlooking River Garonne and Bordeaux. The architecture of the hotel is very unique. The cube-like buildings are designed to make the most of the views.... more

Sometime contemporary architecture can be very interesting. This one ended up with rooms which are very cold, stone terrazzo floor, kitchen Table, and beton type walls. The bed is toi hard. The views are fantastic. The Restaurant has a contempoirary desing. We took the Gourmet Menu, excellent quality and some very innovative Ideas. Extensive and (for France) reasonably priced Wine... more

Fabulous modern hotel which overlooks Bordeaux and the Garonne river. The room was fantastic (bed was a little too hard though) with fantastic day and night views over Bordeaux. We had The Discovery Package which included accomodation, dinner with wine and breakfast. We had the best meal we have ever had in our lives ( and we have travelled extensively) on the terrace after... more

We spent a lovely week-end in Bordeaux and our second night at the Saint James which was a treat compared to the first night in a 3 star pretty plain hotel in downtown Bordeaux. The only reason why we didn't do 2 nights here in Bouliac was that the hotel was full due to a wedding party the previous evening.... more

We just returned from another wonderful 2-night stay at this great Relais& Chateaux hotel. There were 6 of us and we were upgraded to a superior room at no extra cost. Service was first-class. The front desk staff are the best in the Bordeaux region: friendly, helpful and efficient. Superb 9-course, gastronomic dinner in the Michelin-star restaurant and although the... more

Just so that you know - I'm completely biased because I got married here this summer - but this hotel is truly special. Set on a hillside overlooking Bordeaux (but only a 10 minute cab ride away) it is a beautiful, peaceful hotel. The rooms are modern and minimalist with all mod cons. If you want to treat yourself, book... more
