Well unlike anything I have ever experienced before! Basil Fawlty, Adams Family, Keeping Up Appearances comes to mind! Not particulary welcoming from the get go! Found it a wee bit stressful. If you want the blandness of a motorway lodge or you are on a Stag do avoid! These folks are real characters. On arrival we were met with what seemed at the time a barrage of rules with little space for your questions but once you were used to Gwynne's character she went out of her way to be very hospitable. Stayed here during a cycling trip, owners pleasant enough but definitely on of a kind! Make sure you try the homemade bread and marmalade, ignore it at your peril!

As you can gather from other reviews, the landlady is quite a character and the landlord a real sweetie. Great entertainment value, the breakfast is pretty good (fantastic compote), the accommodation very good. I would probably return, but not for a romantic weekend!
