Drove up to Northumberland without booking a place. Turned up at the Turks Head in Rothbury and as it was my Fiancee's birthday we fancied a few drinks but when asked about rooms they did not have any available but she had rang the Queens Head and they had rooms. Was really nice of her. Turned up at the Queens... More

Had a lovely drive through the Northumbrian countryside today & stopped off in Rothbury for a spot of lunch, it was a snowy day and not many of the cafe's etc were particularly inspiring however we then found the Queens Head. Staff were very warm, friendly and courteous, the menu had something for everyone, my husband had the bowl of... More

This is the 2nd visit to the queens. Again the food was outstanding, the staff lovely and the atmosphere great. Our night away was spoilt due to the fact our neighbour in room 23 smoked in their non smoking room, which resulted in our room having a strong smoke smell all night! Not nice :(

I am so annoyed that your stay was blighted by thoughless people. Please accept our sincerest apologies, thankfully its very rare that people do smoke in our rooms so I hope you will consider trying us again. Teresa More

we recently stayed at the Queens Head with friends, and found the hotel rooms immaculate and clean, the restaurant food was of very good standard and very reasonably priced. I dont think we would hesitate in staying here, and as we had such a good time, it could become a regular visit.

Best pie ever. According to my partner. I had fillet steak with blue cheese and blue cheese sauce. My only criticism being my blue cheese sauce was served as a peppercorn sauce. Not being the type to complain I ate it despite the error. Steak was cooked beautifully. Nice seating area with plenty of space between tables. Overall nice atmosphere... More

Firstly thank you so much for your lovely review, don't know when you ate with us but thanks for coming to Rothbury and eating with us. Secondly I must apologise you got the wrong sauce but I am pleased it didn't spoil the overall experience. I hope you come and eat with us again. Teresa More

We've visited the Queens for food several times over the past couple of years (mainly lunch but occasionally dinner) and have never been disappointed. Lunch is usually served in the bar, a traditional country pub layout, other than on Sundays or bank holidays when the restaurant is also open. The menu is varied and most items are reasonably priced. The... More

Rothbury on a Thursday afternoon in January was a little unexciting, I'm afraid. We had trouble parking, the shops were totally unremarkable, there was nothing obvious to see or do ... We went in search of lunch and weren't inspired. Then we 'happened' on the Queen's Head. The old fashioned welcome was encouraging, the menu was comprehensive, we chose hot... More

we were staying in the area locally and picked the Queen's Head from the internet before we travelled so we were unsure of our choice. However we enjoyed Christmas Day Lunch immensely - the food was delicious and there was a pleasant family atmosphere. The staff were unobtrusive but efficient and friendly. We were very pleased by our choice! Thank... More

We have stayed at the Queen's Head several times and have enjoyed each visit - without breaking the bank. An old established pub/hotel like this cannot compete on the same terms as chic modern premises, thank goodness. Its lack of pretention is what appeals. Rooms have been immaculately clean and we have slept soundly. Any problems (and there are always... More

We were staying a few nights in Rothbury (Not at Queens) and spent first night in the queens, very friendly locals and nice pub food at normal pub prices.much better that the nearby Newcastle hotel where we went next night, should have gone back to the Queens.
