Looking for somewhere to eat whilst staying locally, we happened across this hotel. We received a friendly greeting in the bar, enjoyed a well kept beer before being shown to our table in a full restaurant; always a good sign. Generous portions of well cooked food and a reasonably priced wine.

We stayed here as part of a group touring the area and found the restaurant quite good and our room acceptable. The room was spare at best but clean and well heated in a cool season. Nothing fancy, but convenient for our purposes, and the staff was friendly and professional.

Having received a gift voucher for a two night National Park stay we chose the Queens Head in Rothbury to redeem the voucher. Couldn't be more pleased. A very warm welcome on arrival by staff and locals as well, a comfy bed and good food. The views from the bedroom window were lovely. Rothbury is a beautiful village very close... More

I stayed for one night over the bank holiday weekend, received a warm welcome and the room was large and comfortable. I didn't have any food, but did have a very comfortable night's sleep. I felt the stay was good value for money and I would stay again.

Stayed one night on journey north. Nice, friendly, clean and quiet local Inn in the picturesque village of Rothbury. Good evening meal and breakfast presented by friendly staff. Sorry that we missed the live music the next night. Would certainly recommend.

Had a 1 night stay here May 2015. Not really got a bad word to say about it. Staff are lovely, Food was great, bedding was very clean. Nothing better than crisp white sheets. Service very good. Plenty real ales to choose from to keep the beer drinkers happy. Plenty parking. One thing we didn't like was how hot the... More

We stayed one night when walking the Inn Way. I chose it because the bus stop is outside to Cragside, Alnwick & Alnmouth station! The rooms are dated but seem to be undergoing refurbishment, the dining room is good.

Stayed two nights for a friend`s wedding. Not sure when we first arrived...Reception?? turned out to be a busy but pleasant barman. Creaky stairs and uneven passageways but room, although a little cramped, was cosy and full of character. Bed was very comfortable which personally, is a must. Didn`t have an evening meal but breakfast was excellent. Real, proper old... More
