Small hotel evoking memories of yesteryear with its decoration, wood panelling and dim lighting. Very pleasant and friendly staff trying to please and mostly succeeding. Hotel prides itself on its breakfasts and rightly so as we enjoyed each of the five mornings we ate there. Full breakfast tasty and fresh but if hotel is full then grab a croissant early... More

Me and my sister decided to take a few days break and decided upon The Coquetvale Hotel. We were aware that it was now under new management/ownership and having never been in Rothbury decided to give the hotel a go. On arrival we were greeted by a very helpful female member of staff, who decided to tell us a little... More

We have just returned from a 5 night stay at The Coquetvale Hotel with 6 friends. The hotel is clean and comfortable with large spacious rooms ( we were in a Superior room, room 2). Newly decorated with large comfortable beds, a leather settee, wide screen TV and good quality furniture (which is showing some wear and tear, but never... More

Mixed feelings on this one hence this overlong review. It's a pity the review scores are not out of 10 ... this place would be a five for me. I should have learned long ago not to be inflenced by all those great photos on the various websites when looking for somewhere to stay. Unsurprisingly our room - number 5... More

Dear Cumbriaco Many thanks for your time in writing the review. All points have been noted and looked into. We will certainly be looking into placing a mirror next to the hair drier as this has not been flagged as an issue before. The window cleaner has just been instructed to do once a month, therefore we will go back... More

Its an average hotel, rooms need some attention. Food quite good, but be prepared to wait for it. Breakfast very reasonable for a small hotel. Wi-fi only available in the bar/restaurant area. The secondary glazing needed attention.

Hi Alan Thanks for taking the time to review the Coquetvale. In response to your comments, our food is all homemade and made to your preference which sometimes can cause a slight delay compared to other venues. I apologies if you thought the delay was unacceptable. With regards to the double glazing we are looking at replacing the windows and... More

We stayed two nights at the Coquetvale Hotel in mid August whilst visiting Northumberland with our daughter and her husband who were in the UK on holiday from Australia. My wife paid in advance for four adults in two rooms. On arrival we were surprised by the shabby appearance of the hotel from the car park, old mattresses and sofas... More

Dear Andrew I am very sorry that your stay was not as you would have liked. Thank you for taking the time to let us know your views. With regards to the furniture outside of the hotel, there is no excuse for that whatsoever, this should have been placed away from public view. The hanging baskets i am total agreement... More

On first appearances The Coquetvale looks tired but don't let this put you off as we were warmly welcomed and shown to our room on the top floor. The room was a good size and clearly recently refurbished - although the shower is tiny and there is barely enough room to lift your arms. The drainage was also poor and... More

On arrival, we were shown to a spacious room (8).First impressions were good. However, we quickly found that all was not as it seemed! The tourist info pack had brochures 6 years out of date, the secondary glazing was far from secure and the plumbing was below standard ie taps loose and shower unmanageable. The TV was exceptionally poor. Apparently there... More

Dear Youngmanns Thank you for taking the time to review your experience, with us here at the Coquetvale. I was very disappointed to hear your stay was not as you had hoped. There are a few points I would like to address in response. With regards to our staff, I think this must have been a one off situation. As... More

Just returned from a night at the Coquetvale celebrating a friend’s birthday. We started with Afternoon Tea on the lovely outside decked area taking in the views. The tea was excellent and certainly plentiful with good choice of sandwiches, cakes and of course the lovely cream scones with fresh strawberries!! We were a party of 5 and had two rooms... More

We had not booked, so got the usual waffle about trying to fit us in, despite the restaurant being half empty. The menu choice is good, the food, when it came was first class, but the service left much to be desired. Tables were left uncleared and we had to ask more than once for a simple jug of water.... Hi Blownfuse Thank you for the constructive feedback with regards to your visit. I am pleased you had an enjoyable meal.
