Its an average hotel, rooms need some attention. Food quite good, but be prepared to wait for it. Breakfast very reasonable for a small hotel. Wi-fi only available in the bar/restaurant area. The secondary glazing needed attention.

We stayed two nights at the Coquetvale Hotel in mid August whilst visiting Northumberland with our daughter and her husband who were in the UK on holiday from Australia. My wife paid in advance for four adults in two rooms. On arrival we were surprised by the shabby appearance of the hotel from the car park, old mattresses and sofas... More

On first appearances The Coquetvale looks tired but don't let this put you off as we were warmly welcomed and shown to our room on the top floor. The room was a good size and clearly recently refurbished - although the shower is tiny and there is barely enough room to lift your arms. The drainage was also poor and... More

On arrival, we were shown to a spacious room (8).First impressions were good. However, we quickly found that all was not as it seemed! The tourist info pack had brochures 6 years out of date, the secondary glazing was far from secure and the plumbing was below standard ie taps loose and shower unmanageable. The TV was exceptionally poor. Apparently there... More

Just returned from a night at the Coquetvale celebrating a friend’s birthday. We started with Afternoon Tea on the lovely outside decked area taking in the views. The tea was excellent and certainly plentiful with good choice of sandwiches, cakes and of course the lovely cream scones with fresh strawberries!! We were a party of 5 and had two rooms... More

We had not booked, so got the usual waffle about trying to fit us in, despite the restaurant being half empty. The menu choice is good, the food, when it came was first class, but the service left much to be desired. Tables were left uncleared and we had to ask more than once for a simple jug of water.... This is a very good holiday hotel, well placed for visiting the area. The staff are pleasant and helpful, very keen that everything should be right for a pleasant stay. Our room was large and comfortable. We thoroughly enjoyed breakfast each day, and had a couple of meals in the Italian restaurant which was very good. The hotel is on... More

Stayed here and was impressed with our room, all Stag furniture, huge bed. Nice big room. Bathroom was huge with a Jacuzzi style corner bath and a walk in shower. Breakfast was very nice and although we only stayed for one night, i would definitely return for a longer stay. We didn't use the restaurant below but i have been... More

Visited with my mum for a treat and the hotel is lovely, very clean and elegant. Afternoon tea was good value and plentiful for two people. Only downfall for my mum was the stairs as even the restaurant was up 1 1/2 flights of stairs if you have any mobility problems then would not be ideal. I will be visiting... More

Hi Shona Its great to hear that you had a pleasant stay with us. Since you stayed we have now introduced some great new outdoor furniture, and have introduced an outdoor waiting service. We totally agree we are not well designed for anyone who has difficulty with stairs. We do however try and warn people on the booking page, but... More
