We had a great time relaxing on this island for a couple days. The basic geodome was more than sufficient for us, beautifully secluded. Enjoyed the outdoor showers. The food in the restaurant was very good and there was a bigger variety than I was expecting. Had fun swimming in the lake, water was warmer than expected. Highly recommend if... More

Fantastic romantic setting in the geodome, really relaxing and amazing views. Lovely hot shower. Thought food was excellent for being on an island, really hearty and tasty.. Great value compared to other lodges.

Beautiful island with great accommodation options. Geodomes are a great idea, I stayed in the wooden cabin for one night before moving on. It was comfortable and peaceful. Compost toilets were pretty good and shower was decent with hot water! Breakfast was lovely with an unbeatable view. I understand the eco credentials of this place and am all for it,... More

The setting is perfect to chill and relax, all what is needed is on the island: Some great places to sleep, wander around, swim and for sure checking out the surrounding islands with the canoe. Very friendly staff, good food and filled bar... It's hard to envision much better this, just forget the rest of your calendar and enjoy!

Was very excited about this island after a 20 000sh motor boat ride to the island we were shown to our geodome which had the most perfect views of the lake. Very tranquil with a great deck surrounding the room to watch the sunset over. We had a basic geodome for 42,000sh pp which was well worth every penny falling... More

I had a wonderful time at this hotel and I am truly in love with their whole geo-room concept. It is an open straw hut with a view on the lake and a fully furnished room inside (bed frames, mattress, mosquito net, table, candles, chairs, nightstand). The twin geo room is not nearly as nice as the double room as... More

I planned a trip to trek for mountain gorillas through Amagara Tours and they booked me a geodome at Byoona Amagara. They arranged for me to be picked up at the airport in Kigali and I arrived in the evening, unaware that the eco-resort was on an island! The boat ride was incredibly beautiful, the stars were so bright and... More

Hi Ildi, We're so glad you enjoyed your time with us and the pleasant surprise of finding us on an island! And thanks for taking the time to write about your experience here. We're sure you can make your own version of our Flapjacks as well... after all, they're for Homers! We're sorry about the weather, though... that happens sometimes.... More

This has been my favourite place I have come across in Uganda. The island is peaceful, but with lots to do if you want to (canoeing, tours etc). The food is great. And my gosh, the accommodation. It's so beautiful - huts made out of bamboo/straw with an open front onto the lake - does it get any better? It's... More

This is a basic but clean eco friendly resort accessed via motor boat from the mainland. The accommodation is ideal for backpackers and young people. My daughter and I stayed in the only actual fully enclosed 'cottage' which was basic but comfortable. The outdoor shower and toilet were easily accessible and very clean. Overall a beautiful spot, well managed and... More

Hi RukiB... thank you kindly for the feedback. We just want to alert people that the new highway to Kabale is now almost completely finished all the way from Kampala, and continuing to Kisoro and Kigali (Rw.) Thanks again. More

Definitely one of the better managed and more eco-friendly of the islands on Lake Bunyonyi. Booking was easy; transport to the island was efficient and not too expensive; car parking on the mainland was free. The accommodation on the island itself was excellent. We stayed in the geo-domes with a superb view over the lake from your bed. Toilets and... More
