The hotel is the first you come to in the village at Bunyoni where most of the resorts and campsites are. It's over a rough road, steep in places which climbs over the hillside- I was in a 4x4 but saw normal cars make the drive. The hotel is a 3 storey stone built building set in nice gardens overlooking... More

I stayed 2 nights at Birdsnest. It was off-season so I was the only guest, and only a few came for a meal. This is obviously not ideal for judging the Hotel. But it was really great. Good ambience, good quality material and furniture and very friendly staff. The outside restaurant area has a really good feel to it, good... More

My husband and I had just spent nearly two weeks trekking round Uganda staying in tents and basic accommodation. We had a marvellous time with little access to running water or electricity. We saw the Gorillas and climbed Mount Sabinyo. However we knew that after such a hectic time we would need a little rest before returning to England. We... More

A wonderful, comfortable and relaxing place in a superb location. Gorgeous rooms, splendid restaurant and terrace, this was quite the place to do no absolutely nothing after two days trekking gorillas. As for the guilt, well having spent two-weeks in this beautiful country, even the least observant visitor might realise the extent of their privileges (then again, we did hear... More

I have been at Birdnest in June 2014. The hotel and the rooms are just perfect. And the swimming pool is all natural with natural water filter. The food is great and the view on the lake is the best you can get. You should definitely book a small boat and go on a boat ride for a few hours.... More

My partner and I stayed here during a Uganda Gorilla safari. After checking in and having lunch we went on a two hour boat trip around Lake Bunyonyi which was great! We stopped on a couple of the islands to go for a walk which really made the outing. There is so much to see on the islands and so... More

Absolutely lovely room with a wonderful view of the lake. New amenities, nice design, swimming pool, free canoes for guests, big breakfast. The food at the restaurant was pretty good and the service was prompt. A bit more friendliness from the staff would have been nice. Overall, we'd stay there again.

We had a quick one night stop over at Birdnest while on our honeymoon to split up the drive between Lake Mburo and Bwindi Impenetrable Forest - the hotel was located perfectly for that purpose, and we enjoyed the views as well as a quick canoe trip on the lake. The food was appetizing and plentiful, and I would recommend... More

Plus points - amazing view of the lake, a big room and all seemed very modern and professional. We stayed one night. Negatives - the staff seemed a lot less friendly or interested than the other places we had stayed. The food was still good but not to the high standard we had been told to expect.

Great views and very good food at the Birdnest. We took a dugout canoe out on the lake from the lodge. There are beautiful views from the rooms. We had nice hot showers which is a plus in Uganda. The staff was friendly and helpful. We had to leave at 5am to go gorilla trekking and asked for box breakfasts... More
