Normally I write recommendations. This is the first time I really can't. The whole holiday in South-Africa we felt save. This was the only place where we didn't and that was not because of the city. There is something with the owner. He's very friendly when you talk to him, but in the middle of the night he knocked on... More

During our recent visit to South Africa we stayed at Sabie Backpackers for 3 days/2 nights whilst we tried out some of the adventure activities in the area. It was quite run down and I'd say best avoided. The room we had was a 10 person room (although just the 4 of us stayed in there) consisting of 3 triple... More

We spent 2 nights in the Sabie Backpackers in July 2014. We had a room with a bunk bed and a double bed. The room was dirty, the bedding was smelly and gnarly, the walls were filthy, the toilet (less than 2 metres away from the double bed and there was no door between) was icky, the basin was filthy,... We came there at night after a long drive. We enter the place and wanted to see the Double room. Unfortunately I have nothing good to say about the room but I can say that camping is better. Avoiding the room we went to the dorm. My friend pillow had the smell as if someone spit on it. when we... More

I called ahead about staying, but when I arrived there was noone there except for another traveler who had just undone the gate and walked in. So I called again and 20 minutes later someone showed up. The dorms are ridiculously overstuffed with beds for the amount of space there is. Bed linen is not clean, mattresses are lumpy and... More

We stayed for 2 nights in a double room at Sabie Backpackers in early February 2013. Although there are a few other backpacker hostels in the Sabie/Graskop area, we chose to stay here because my boyfriend had been here before, albeit 6 years ago. He remembered Sabie Backpackers as a really fun place, and had hyped it up to me... More

Sabie Backpackers and Extreme Adventures used to be such a lekker plek and as far as I was concerned one of the best in South Africa. So, as a returning customer I am really appalled to say that the place has gone to [--]. First thing was that they got our booking wrong but they were kind enough to accommodate... More

The staff gave our money back. After we found droppings in our room. The staff said they have a rat problem. The staff were not helpful. I would not recommend their trips and activities. Staff did not care about safety. We did not feel welcome in the bar. This was my 5th time to South Africa. South Africa is great.... More
