My boyfriend and I had a dreadful staying at this place :( We arrived full of expectations after the positive reviews found on Tripadvisor but unfortunately what we found was really disappointing. We entered the room and the window was open hence several mosquitos and flies were happily flying around. The bed was covered with stained bed linen (we smelled... More

1)you can choose to sleep in sao luis city center or outside. I suggest to sleep in the city center, no resdon to take a taxi everytime you want to visit it. In the citt center this pousada is the best solution. 2) clean. Rooms are clean linen are clean. Bathrooms are clean. 3) in brasil you need to be... More

I am a long term guest at Pousada Portas da Amazónia: first time - two years ago - I was here one month. This time have been here one and a half month and will stay two or three more. This Pousada is nice, with courteous and efficient staff, a good location - although a bit noisy during weekends -... More

This was my favourite accommodation in Brazil: we had a huge beautiful room overlooking one of the squares, big windows, large bed, gorgeous bathroom. The Pousada is full of charm and the staff are super friendly and helpful. The breakfast was also excellent, the standard Brazilian fare but done really well. The location is also perfect: we stayed during the... More

Really enjoyed our stay here. Was there during bumba-meu-boi which meant there were even more street parties and performances than normal. Plus the usual array of bands and parties on plazas throughout the old town. Was such a great experience to be in São Luis at this time. Loved being able to walk just down the street to festivities. True... More

The place is very nice, possibly one of the nicest in the center from what I saw. It is well located in the heart of the city center. Beautiful indoor patio and breakfast area with lovely furnishing. Staff weren't overly nice, they did their job but a smile would have been nice. Our room was a bit dark but I... More

When I first arrived I noticed a bad smell on the reception desk, that old wood desk hasn't been cleaned properly. Well that's all right. As I arrived in my room there is a hole on the floor, I can see through to the floor below, I think it's a restaurant/bar. Music came through as well. Then the sheets, pillows... More

Pousada booked as a base to go onto Lencois Maranhensis very early the next day at430am. Figured it would be ok as a base to explore old town and during the day was fine. However at 9 pm the very loud live music a few metres away started and carried on till 2am! Even with ear plugs, noise cancelling headphones... More

This was a nice little hotel tucked away in the intricate streets of historical Sao Luis. We arrived around 3:00 in the morning, and someone was there at the front desk for us. However, we were promised a ground level room, and required this arrangement as my husband was on crutches. I was incredibly disappointed to have them show us... More

I was very surprised that nobody mentioned on tripadvisor that the hotel is surrounded by night clubs where the music is sooo loud that the windows of the hotel vibrate. The hotel is in a charming, but poor and derelict area where especially on weekends it is impossible to avoid the pounding music and the rowdy crowds (both in the... More
