This Hotel and its Restaurant are really lovely to stay. The rooms (ours was number 4 at the front) are recently renewed and are in perfect condition. Good bedding, very nice bathroom/shower. One night we had dinner at the restaurant, and it is as good as the hotel. We surely recommend this place which is in a lovely Alsace/Elzas village.... More

We selected Kientzheim as a base for a 5 day stay in Alsace after a lot of research. It was a great choice for us. However, Kientzheim is a very small but picturesque village overlooked by hillsides with grand cru vineyards with just two restaurants, a bakery and several very good wine sales rooms. If you want more activity, Kayersberg... More

We had just 3 days, with no car, to visit Alsace. We chose Kientzheim to visit the Andre Blanck Cellar and stay at the Hostellerie Schwendi. The Schille family was amazing; Vigneron Rene [our fav Reisling Reserve 2012], Chef Fabian [our favs scallop entree, guinea hen main course], and Mireille [the soul of our visit with her kindness and language... We happened to stumble upon Kientzheim and were wanting a quiet town to stay the night in. Arrived in the afternoon and were greeted by friendly and welcoming staff. The room was a decent size and very clean. Was pleasantly surprised how modern and large the bathroom was. Unfortuneately, we didn't eat here because we walked the town and kept... More

We stayed in this lovely, family-run hotel for 3 nights. Staff are welcoming and friendly. Although our room in the main building was nicely decorated, it was a little too cosy to our liking. The bathroom was clean and functional but also a tad small. We had to book room 4, overlooking the quaint square, since this was the only... More

Hostellerie Schwendi is in a truly tiny Alsatian village called Kientzheim, a short distance from lovely Colmar. Kientzheim was one of the few small towns that was spared extensive bomb destruction in World War II, and it is a good base for exploration of other Alsatian wine route towns. It also has a number of local vintners who offer tastings.... More

We stayed at the Hostellerie with a group of 12 men and had a demi-pension arrangement. The rooms were impeccable, dinner was very good and the price is right. Only drawback: the restaurant offers only the house brand wines, with very few exceptions. The wines are all good but nevertheless your choice is quite limited.

Very happy with this hotel - it is quiet, clean - spacious. Hosts are wondeful. This is not a touristo city - it is convenient to Kaysersburg, Ribeauville, and Riqwhair - but without the crowds. Would I stay here again - absolutely.

We had dinner at the Schwendi last night and had the best meal in Alsace so far, the service was very friendly, the food was delicious however do book if you intend to go on the week end as it seems to be very busy, we could not get a table on Saturday night. I can not comment on the... More

We stayed there during our recent trip thru Alsace. Kientzheim is a very small village, centrally located, hence a great starting point to explore the region. We decided to stay for two nights and could have easily extended our stay. The hotel is absolutely charming and spread over 2 adjacent properties. Our room was located in the opposite building and...
