Great little intimate hotel we chose because of the restaurant, which was worth the trip. We went at the end of the season late August, so they were not overwhelmed with guests. Service was very friendly, the owner spoke to us at dinner and insisted on checking on our stay when we were leaving, a rare customer focus. The room... More

Dear Sir, Your comments about our hotel and our restaurant have for us the very taste of that “best lamb” you described. The chef, myself and the staff thank you for your “good” appreciation, a kind of gastronomy for us. Our chef is glad when clients are able to recognize his passionate and creative work, with fresh products of high... More

Having stayed at Le Choucas before we returned this year with high hopes and were not disappointed. The ambience, reinforced by welcoming and courteous staff, is restrained yet warmly quirky. The food is good and the dining room, roofed by arches of undressed stone, is an experience in itself. The bedrooms are comfortable and the standard of service high. The... More

This was one of the highlights of our 2 week trip. Great room, excellent food, wonderful staff. They really wanted you to feel like you were staying in a small charming Inn and we were. We felt right at home. The dining room was excellent! Be sure to have breakfast there, it is a real treat!

Having read numerous poor reviews of L’Auberge du Choucas, none of which were recent I might add, I admit to having had doubts about booking this hotel. I am always dubious of the number of stars appointed to European hotels as I do not think they necessarily meet the same criteria as those in the UK. However, as most of... More

We had dinner there a few weeks ago and it was excellent. The desert souffle was the best ever. Unfortunately, I left my jacket there and the staff was very helpful in getting it back. They mailed it to my home in the States. I would recommend that anyone in the area stop by and check it out.

Food nothing special not "gourmet" at all, very uncomfortable atmosphere, way to expensive for what you get.

We highly recommend this charming place to everybody. We, myself,my wife and two kids, age 7and 9 stayed there during a week in sept. 07. The service, extraordinary meals, including a sumptuous breakfast, the charming rooms, gracious decor, old ambiance, the quiet hotel itself, nestled in the heart of the ancient village, and then the extrardinary scenery and country surrounding... My husband and I found this hotel through Alistair Sawday's "Special Places to Stay". We have often referred to that book and found it reliable and so were incredibly disappointed to find that the picture in the book was of a totally different (and much more beautiful!) hotel. An error, we were told. Unfortunately the description in the book also... More
