Although we know France quite well, this was our first visit to the Dordogne, and it could not have gone better. This hotel is simply gorgeous - the location is perfect, sitting almost on top of the river below. The rooms are individually and very elegantly furnished, with all the conveniences one would expect today. From our room, we had... More

CASTLE: The ground and building are just superb and I will agree with other reports that this property is one the finest Châteaux, in the same league as Château d’Esclimont, d’Artigny and Beauvois. GARDEN/POOL: take the time to visit the garden and go down to the river, relax by the pool; you might want to arrive early as there might... More

You have sent a first review but TripAdvisor had found it defamatory and deleted this first review. As I see you write again. I will not reply in details to your comment because it is very long and my answer would be long too. I would just add one thing: You are one of those very rare clients that can... More

The chateau only has 17 rooms and - because of the size of the kitchen - doesn't take a huge number of outside bookings. This makes it very intimate despite the large grounds (there's a big pool which has very sensibly been sited well away from the chateau so it can't be seen or heard). We spent one night in... More

Now THIS is the real deal. If you've ever wanted to stay in a French chateau, this picture-perfect castle commanding a hill on the banks of the Dordogne River is about as good as it gets. The chateau itself is majestic, with thick stone walls and ancient wooden doors. The grounds are perfectly manicured and include a tennis court and... More

A room overlooking the Dordogne, being able to have tea in the gardens and eating a Michelin starred meal on the terrace overlooking the river, with first class service, a hotel stay doesn't get any better than that.

Lovely setting and top notch accomodations. (The food is quite wonderful and we had the added treat of waking each morning to the smell of baking!) But what impressed us the most was the level of hospitality at every level of the staff and management. The owner, Stephanie, was on site and very involved and made a point of connecting... More

Approaching Chateau de la Treyne you catch an awesome view of the chateau clinging to the cliff. It's a breathtaking picture, even on our second visit !! We were running late and arrived twenty minutes after the kitchen stopped taking orders for dinner but thankfully they made an exception and welcomed us, even though they were fully booked. This is... More

The Chateau itself is a fabulous building, a multitude of different public rooms and dining areas inside and out, the food was superb and served by the most attentive and capable staff. We booked for one night and stayed for two and have vowed to return,

My wife and I had the fortune to revisit our current favorite place on planet Earth . . . Chateau de la Treyne. The adjectives -- stunning, magnificent and sublime do not do it justice. We had no plans - "lets find something once we are in the area". So glad we did this... A magnificent building, fantastic location, amazing staff, food that looks like art and blows your mind with all the contrasting/complimenting flavours and textures. Not cheap, but well worth it - especially for couples.
