This was the first Parador that we have ever stayed in and is undoubtedly the best. It is an old palace from the 14C, a lot of which still exists, and the interior is elegantly decorated and furnished. I asked for a canopied bed and we were given a suite which was gorgeous. The bedroom was a six sided corner... More

This is a very different place to stay - a genuine medieval Castle upon a hill with a small town at its feet. A great place to stay on any journey exploring Spain. I stayed here some years ago and I am delighted to say it has not changed or bowed to commercial change. Its restaurant is of good quality... More

Reception was efficient. Spoke English. Room was a good size. We had a westerly facing room, so good long distance views. Bathroom was fine, good over bath shower. Shutters on windows, makes the room nice and dark, and easy to sleep in late if you want to. Excellent buffet breakfast. Ate in the town both evenings, so cannot comment on... More

We have been staying in paradors for only about 10 years and have visited about 20 of them. We have passed this one by on the motorway to Extremadura many times, so this year decided to try it out for two nights before going to one of our favourites, Trujillo. Our experience was a bit hit and miss. The misses... More

We thought this Parador was great. Been there since the 30s but they are keeping up the maintenance. In fact they were doing significant reconstruction on the building while we were there but it never bothered us. Rooms are quite spacious and service was good. Dinner was disappointing, presentation was excellent but the quality of the original ingredients for the... More

This former palace really gives you the experience of being royalty. The common rooms are impressive, with sumptuous decor. This whole place was like a maze of grand rooms, eventually leading to the dining room with a vaulted ceiling and wooden beams. It was a joy to explore. Our room was spacious with a very large bathroom. Our view overlooked... More

Excellently restored medieval castle. Only 48 rooms with two superior suites reasonably priced. Great place for a relaxing weekend. Attentive service. Good restaurant with regional dishes. Large rooms with fireplace that promote conversation and caradery with friends and family.

The castle-palace of Oropesa is the noblest building of the village. The Parador occupies part of the Palace that is in front of the castle, a 12/13th century Arab construction. On the wall of the Castle doesn't lack even a medieval cage, where prisoners were terminated, exposed and left to die. The main door of the fortress closes early, on... More

Paradors are for history lovers (sure, for gastronomy as well...) and this one fully meets the expectations of such a traveler. The Hotel is located in a 15th century palace/castle that dominates an entire side of the very quiet village of Auroras. We got a very nice and large room with a magnificent view over the countryside. The food at... More

I was really pleased with the price I got this Parador for and it turned out to be excellent value. Set on a hill next to a castle, 5 minutes walk from the square in Oropesa. Built in the 1300s, well preserved and tastefully decorated. Large rooms with beautiful views and massive public rooms. Oropesa is a small, typically Spanish... More
