Travelling down the M6 from Cumbria to Manchester Airport we were looking for somewhere "family friendly" and not horrible to stop off for a quick lunch. Decided that the Lancaster/Galgate exit looked promising, and by luck we ended up at the Bay Horse. Lovely pub, and the staff were really friendly and helpful: they spontaneously offered that with our small... More

Firstly there's a duplicate on this restaurant as it's also mentioned in the Lancaster section. It's not Lancaster though, definitely Galgate (ish). The food was great. Prettily constructed, nicely portioned, well cooked. I would suggest the venue is spending all its money in the kitchen and not bothering too much with the service side. No greeting when we arrived, no... More

After several recommendations from friends we finally got round to trying out the Bay Horse and we will most definitely be back. The Sunday lunch (we both had the sirloin of beef) was fantastic - cooked quite rare, just how we like it, but you can of course have it more well-done. The staff and overall service was great, much... More

Called here when passing last Saturday not sure if we would have needed to book but as it was only 6.30 took a chance. The staff were were very good and found us a table even though it was quite busy, and they had a big group coming in at 7.00. The place was spotlessly clean and very traditional. I... More

I called here earlier tpday with some friends and enjoyed an excellent lunch, well presented with very polite and efficient service. The place was quite quiet when we arrived and quickly filled up more but this didnt appear to detract from the service we experienced and observe. The comfortable pub atmosphere is well complimented by an excellent range of draught beers... More

Having eaten at some of the fine restaurants of the world (Burj al Arab, De Karmeliet, Caprice HK, Alain Ducasse at the Dorchester, etc) I must say this little restaurant really surprised me. 'The food was fantastic, it didn't have the style or finesse as those mentioned above but tasted easily as good. It was served promptly by very polite... More

Four of us decided to have Sunday lunch at this eating and drinking house, just south of Lancaster. We'd heard the food was excellent, although perhaps a little pricey. We were shown to our table immediately on arrival (the days of taking a seat in the bar first and ordering the meal, before going into the dining room, seem to... More
