We had a lovely stay at Domaine du Roncemay, rooms correct and comfortable, beautiful rural setting with lovely swimming pool
However the problem is the restaurant, the prices are quite expensive, but nor ridiculous, but the quality as the previous French reviewer stated is totally not there, not inedible but just totally without skill or flavour. The service in the restaurant while charming is a bit of a shambles, one can here the waiters shouting to each other to find out whose dish is whose and also even making derogatory comments about some American diners, within earshot of many guests. I also overheard a huge argument going on in the kitchen before dinner... Marc Meneau the owner is a revered 3 star Michelin chef in France but after this experience I would think twice about eating at his much more expensive restaurant about which I have heard mixed reports. It is a shame as the hotel is charming and with better management would have been great. more
