I arrived around 7pm after working a 13 hour shift to be ignored by arrogant bar staff. When I asked about food the bar woman went and got me a menu with the poshest crud I've seen, "truffle oil mash" "aubergine and harissa cous cous". Way over priced rubbish. After a hard days work you want a decent meal not... More

My partner and I have stayed at The Rose and Crown three times, our first visit we had room 9 which was a beautiful room, plenty of space, huge bathroom and lovely view. We've since had two different smaller rooms, both rather unremarkable and could do with a fresh lick of paint instead of the patch jobs that have clearly... More

Drove past on the way to Kenfig Nature Reserve so seemed appropriate for lunch. Nice spot in the middle of the pretty village of Nottage. Warm and friendly staff, an interesting mix of traditional and modern fare, opted for panko coated calamari, grilled sardines, Thai chicken cakes which were excellent followed by smoked mackerel, back bacon, soft boiled egg &... Stayed for the 2nd time, this time for a Birthday & Anniversary treat. We were allocated the same room as on our last vist (room 3 ). Room was lovely & clean and was plenty big enough for our 1 night stay. We ate in the restaurant in the evening which was very busy, despite being understaffed, the staff that... More

Stayed here 4 nights and was good location for our National Trust visits in South Wales. Staff were all friendly and helpful. Room had clean comfortable beds and hospitality tray. However, the decor was in great need of attention, paint peeling off window frames.Dirty net curtain at window. Curtains difficult to close, missing hooks and impeded by net curtain wire.... More

We where given room 1, which was well equipped and clean. I did feel that the room decor could do with a little TLC. The lining paper on the ceiling was coming off. The room was a good size but due to its location I would not recommend staying in it.You could hear people coming and going as it was... More

We recently stayed here for a 2 night break over the weekend. Upon arrival our room was not ready as we arrived very early 11:45. The staff was very polite, helpful and assured us the rooms will be ready in 10 minutes so decided to have a quiet drink while we await. Rooms were immaculate & modern and very well... More
