We just finished a 10 day trip around Scotland and tried every kind of inn -- hotels, B&Bs, rooms in people's houses, small inns. This was our final night and by far the best. The location cannot be beat; stunning white buildings on a peaceful, isolated shore. Roaring fireplaces with couches in front -- perfect for reading. The rooms are... More

We loved this hotel, everything about it was perfect! The warm welcome on arrival by the staff on a wild December day was wonderful. We got checked in to a super comfy room with sea view. The room was intimate with everything you need and done to the highest standards. The bed was incredibly comfortable and provided a wonderful nights... More

2 couples touring Scotland stayed there for just one night. What a mistake! We should have stayed much longer because of: a) the location b) the meals c) the logfire in the lounge area d) the rooms e) the service. A must for the discerning traveller.

We came here on a wet November day for a birthday lunch and what a treat it was. We shared the seafood platter and it was fabulous. Between us both we just managed to finish it. The view over to Lismore was lovely, even on a dull day and watching the chef collecting the creel from the pier reminds you... More

We were really well looked after by the staff at the Pier House when we came here for a family lunch - attentive but not in-your-face, and the food was mighty. A seafood platter to share was as fresh as it gets, and if the Cullen Skink was a bit too creamy, the curried cauli soup was outstanding! Not the... More

We stayed here at the weekend, and it really was incredible! Set in the most amazing location, the views are just unbelievable! We had a few drinks in the bar... Very cosy with the woodburner... Followed by a feast of the finest scottish seafood (langoustines/ scallops/ oysters!) & game! Yum! Glass of wine on the pier at sunset- highly recommended!... More

Many thanks for such a great review which so nicely sums up exactly the atmosphere and experience which we have endeavoured to achieve for all our guests over the years. Fresh seafood & game carefully presented are our main food specialities, but none of it happens by chance. Yes we are incredibly fortunate to be in one of the most... More

I took my parents here for a weekend of relaxation, and it definitely lived up to our hopes and expectations. The area is very quiet as well as beautiful, and it's right by the water. We stayed for two nights in a family room which was perfect for us and took some lovely walks around the hotel. Furthermore, the staff... More

My wife and I returned to this fabulous spot for the third time and once again enjoyed the most fantastic lunch of mussels, with pieces of hot smoked salmon, in a lovely onion cream sauce. We were served by Matous and could not fault his enthusiasm, professionalism and pleasant friendly attitude. Should I have to pick a last meal this... More

Belligerent and disinterested describes the staff when we visited the restaurant at the Pierhouse Hotel. We waited 3/4 hour for a fairly uncomplicated meal (fish & chips, lentil burger). At one point we inquired about the delay and a very defensive waitress said that we had to wait as our food was being cooked entirely from scratch. We were sitting... More

As a hotel / restaurant owner my major gripe about this forum for customer reviews is that customers can hide their identify behind an alias and can avoid giving any form of detail about their visit in terms of date or time of day for instance. The fact that in this case the visit was in September and the review... More

We were very glad to have some delightful seafood at The Pierhouse. The langoustines were second to none and were thoroughly enjoyed as was the mixed seafood platter. Our children enjoyed the scampi and the steak and ale pie. Service was friendly and good. If it wasn't so far from us we would definitely return again. I think it was... More

We are delighted you enjoyed your dinner with us and found us good value for money. In view of the distance from Edinburgh to us of about 3 hours and to encourage you to come and visit us again, why not come and spend the night with us next time or spend the weekend here perhaps? Food for thought and... More
