There isn't a whole lot of lodging options out by Hellnar so we ended up at Guesthouse Snjofell. It was OK - the rooms were clean and we had the basic amenities. We ended up with a room right next to the entry door on the first floor so we were able to 'enjoy' the door slamming and people loudly... More

Stayed there for one night, about £95 per room plus £10 for breakfast (cereal, limited fruit, bread, jams, cheese, meat). Our room was small. Warm. Comfy bed (despite loads of holes in the sheets...looked very warn out and I would expect better at this price) We had a shared bathroom and loo which was downstairs and caused some pretty long... This place is an iconic Icelandic picture with its "grassy" roof. Take a walk to the water and get blown away (literally and figuratively) by the ocean views. The picture from Hellnar are some of our favorites. The room was adequate, but be aware that six to seven rooms share a bathroom. Not a problem, but could possibly lead to... More

I am honestly surprised by the negative reviews below. My girlfriend and I stayed at Guesthouse Snjofell in August, 2013 while visiting Iceland. The rooms were clean, the beds comfortable, and we never had any problems with the staff or waiting in lines for the bathroom. The price we were charged was more than reasonable, about $100 USD for the... More

Worse place we stayed at during our two weeks in Iceland (and we practically slept in a different place every night). Very, very expensive for the little you get: the rooms do not have anything to do with the nice looking pictures they use for promotion. Maybe there is a room like that, but for sure there are many that... More

Our room in the shared bathroom section was large and lit up - too lit up for comfort, when the sun hardly sets down... Something about this place was not as hospitable as in other places we stayed in, in Iceland. The staff was polite but not very friendly and looked rather tired. The shower curtain was inefficient and the... More

The place is nice, the restaurant was very fine, actually, and very cozy. The service was good and they did us a little favor too - so we have no complaints there. We had a triple room with sleeping bag accommodation. I don't know if it's me, but I was somehow expecting that when you travel like that, sleeping-bag chepo,... More

I did not stay here as I was staying over at Hotel Hellnar but I wanted to eat a very late lunch/ early dinner . There are also not many places to eat nearby so I decided to try this one. It is about a 2km walk from Hotel Hellnar through the lava fields, IF one does not stop every... More

We booked a double and stayed for one night. The room was clean, the matress super comfy and we've had a nice view to the sea from our window - what more would you want. The surroundings are great, which we knew but could not see in all the mist and rain. You are close to the national park. It... More

One of the 1st hostels of our round trip in Iceland, so that left a bad feeling. Rooms were tiny, old and there was only one bathroom for the whole house. Breakfast was expensive, but food was ok. Staff was clearly not made to work in a guesthouse. Avoid if you can.
