I stayed only one night with a friend. Casa is perfectly located just off the main square, but quiet enough. Bathroom is modern and AC is provided. Stairs up to top floor are steep and tight, watch your head if you are tall, but it's worth the climb. The rooftop is gorgeous & cool with loads of plants. The hosts... More

Our bus arrived 45 mins early at the bus station, but Luis had sent a taxi to meet us, and to our surprise, he was already there. There's a steep flight of stairs when you arrive, but the taxi driver and a passer by (!) carried our cases up for us. Luis appeared, covered in grease etc., -he is working... More

We stayed in 6 Casas in Cuba January 2014. We enjoyed our 2 night stay here and I would highly recommend it. Location is great, next to the beautiful main square. We took 3 rooms as we had our 2 adult children with us. It is a better Casa than most we stayed in. Luis the host is very nice... More

We arrived at Hostal Amalia only to be greeted by a very apologetic host who explained that he had waited a while for us but as we had not called in advance to re confirm our stay, he had just given our room to another couple... Tip: when in Cuba always ask the current casa owner to call ahead and... More

Just stayed here one night as it was the closest place I could stay to Remedios for their Christmas Eve party (worth experiencing) The owner very helpfully arranged a taxi to Remedios at short notice and was waiting for me when I got back at around 2am! The room was nice and clean. The food was good. The dining area... More

We stayed for a couple of night in January 2014. It wasn't our first choice but we were sent there because the other booking was full. We were pleasantly surprised. The rooms are clean and comfortable, the house has a beautiful terrace and the breakfast was great but mostly it was Luis (the host) and his family's hospitality was generous... More

Stayed here for 2 nights over Christmas and the hospitality was wonderful! Luis was so welcoming and helpful and we enjoyed long leisurely breakfasts and meals on the gorgeous terrace -thanks Damien for your wonderful patience and excellent English! I highly recommend it for any visitor to Cuba and Santa Clara is an interesting place too! Maeve, Ireland

Our three night stay at Casa Amalia was a truly delightful experience. The Casa could not have been better located - 60 seconds from the main square which was a hub of activity, and 30 seconds from the "Boulevard" commercial district. We were also able to walk to the Che monument, and to the battle scene at the railway -... More

Luis, his family and the staff are the best! We stayed here for three nights in July and absolutely hated to leave. The food is fresh and so delicious. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The roof top terrace is such a wonderful place to relax and escape the heat in the afternoons. And the Food!….. wow, can Luis's wife... More

My family and I visited Cuba over Christmas and Hostal Amalia was the nicest place we stayed in. We also stayed in five star hotels in Havana but none were as nice or welcoming as Luis' casa. Luis, his family and staff made us more than welcome throughout our stay in Santa Clara and Luis was more than accommodating in... More
