Great location, great facilities but what poor service and shocking management! In Calabar for an international conference hosted by the Governor of Cross River State, the hotel was aware that it was home to the key speakers and dignitaries, but that made little difference. While the rank and file worker did their very best, mid-management and senior management were atrocious!... More

This is my fourth stay in this hotel and this time was awful. The wireless internet in the hotel simply never works, they cannot accept international credit card payments, there is no atmosphere. The room that I got on the bottom floor this time was awful. Toilet falling over, plugs sticking out the walls, handles falling off - TV not... More

I checked into this hotel on the 21st of May after two days at its competition Tinapa Lakeside Hotel. This Hotel used to be called Metropolitan Hotel until it was taken over by the Transcorp Group and refurbished. I believe they did a very good job in their attempt to make it modern. The reception was not bad and I... More

I checked in to this gleaming hotel in the heart of Calabar with high expectations...and who could blame me - afterall they have the big Transcorp name. Unfortunately, the hotel fell short of my expectations in terms of sleep quality. The room was standard and nice though I would have appreciated more lighting. The real issue came when I tried... Live in Nigeria - Nigeria tends to have a lot of corrupt cash that people need to find a way to spend. So that usually funnels into hotels like this that provide decent rooms with adequate services at bleed through your nose prices. - The desk staff are shady and downright dishonest - I had arranged a booking through my... Stayed at the hotel for an awards ceremony becuase it was recommended by the organisers. First of all the hotel is quite old but alot has been done to bring it back to standard. The carpets in the hotel is literally threadbare. The front door has do doorman. The 24hr roomservice is nice, the staff smile alot. However the kiosks... More

Formerly Metropolitan hotel... Its a place worth staying especially just before the Calabar carnival. Its in the heart of the city with courteous staff members willing to help. The last time i was there, the kitchen got my friend's order mixed and when he complained, it was changed without so much fuss. I was impressed.

Matropolitan Hotel is the home for the Super Eagles, and is part of the history of Calabar, a lot effort has been made to bring it up to international standard. I would understand why a tourist from Europe would not understand the my 5 star rating, when there is no functioning swimmning, internet service is not available 24 hours, the... More

The hotel's ambience is good, location is great and the hotel staff were very courteous and helpful. All you need to do is to ask for Kusi or Nuhu and you get excellent service. For food and beverage, ask for Stella or Wumi and for banqueting, ask for Iyam. They all did wonderfully well. Oooh! I forgot to mention their... More
