Fantastic game and wine tasting evening at the Bear - food, wine and service all really good. Champagne and canapes to start, then courses of smoked salmon, pheasant, venison and British cheeses. Excellent value at £27.50. Bring on the next one and we will invite our friends!

We won a voucher for Sunday lunch at the Bear and it was delicious! We had the pigeon breast starter, which although we had to wait half an hour for, tasted scrummy! We then had the beef and chicken roast dinners which did not disappoint. It all tasted great, it was not as hot as we liked but it was... More

I stayed for one night at The Bear. The room was spacious and well equipped and of a good clean standard. Although it faced the main road noise was minimal. The bar was pleasant and fairly popular with a good outdoor area also. Breakfast was decent with a reasonable choice available. Close to shops and bars and restaurants.

I visited the The Bear last Saurday with a friend for a drink, and having bought 2 large glasses of wine, we went to sit outside on the high tables and bar stools. As I went to climb onto the stool, I leant on the table, which tipped, causing my drink to fall over. A bar attendant came and tried... More

We have just returned from The Bear after staying there whilst we did a 3 day show at Hampton Court Palace. The rooms are lovely, clean and big. Food in the bar is pleasant and the pub garden was lovely on a hot evening. BUT be warned, if you are staying here for an event at Hampton Court Palace the... More

Stayed the night last night, had a good nights sleep, but woken up by the traffic. I did have the windows open so it was my fault. Plus the pub is on a main road so what do you expect ??? Breakfast was nice and service good

Visited with a work colleague, we had 30 minutes for lunch, we both ordered Wraps, such a sile meal, after a 35 minute wait we asked the bar girl where our food was, the pub was empty. We finally received our food after 40 minutes, this caused us to be late for work, which wasn't the plan

Hello Paul Thank you for your comments we have investigated the issues with our restaurant and kitchen teams regarding the delay with your food. It was very unfortunate the order for your food arrived into the kitchen at the same time as the order for a table of 18 people seated outside and a small party in our main dining... More

My husband & I have just returned home from a 19 night stay at The Bear. We had a lovely big room ( 7 ) which we had requested because of a lot of baggage & it was light, airy, clean, comfortable & very quiet considering its age & potential creakiness. The residents car park was a bonus as The... More

A comfortable and friendly place to stay for a wedding nearby. No racing at Sandown and so the place was very civilised. A warm welcome from reception and a clean and well appointed room with decent bath and shower. Real milk, water and fresh fruit in the minibar are included and breakfast was good. Car parking on site with a... More

This pub should be called The BearPit- when I went it was full of loud drunks(young men and women spilling their drinks all over the place at the bar) who were on the way to 'watch' the races at Sandown Park. Apparently this is a favourite stop for racegoers so be warned! It feels like some sort of drinking den-it... More
