My husband & I have just returned home from a 19 night stay at The Bear. We had a lovely big room ( 7 ) which we had requested because of a lot of baggage & it was light, airy, clean, comfortable & very quiet considering its age & potential creakiness. The residents car park was a bonus as The... More

A comfortable and friendly place to stay for a wedding nearby. No racing at Sandown and so the place was very civilised. A warm welcome from reception and a clean and well appointed room with decent bath and shower. Real milk, water and fresh fruit in the minibar are included and breakfast was good. Car parking on site with a... More

This pub should be called The BearPit- when I went it was full of loud drunks(young men and women spilling their drinks all over the place at the bar) who were on the way to 'watch' the races at Sandown Park. Apparently this is a favourite stop for racegoers so be warned! It feels like some sort of drinking den-it... More

Popped in for lunch. The place was deserted which was not a good sign - looked very tired, but we stayed anyway and ate outside. The food was very average; the accompanying salad included some almost decomposing lettuce which we pointed out to the waitress when she brought our coffee. She agreed it was 'rather nasty' and said (as they... More

I booked to stay here for a few days and the reviews read great, I arrived and got the last parking space which was a bonus. I was greeted by the hotel staff and all were very welcoming, I was shown up to my room which was at the back of the hotel away from the main road as I... More

Stayed here just a couple of weeks ago and was really surpised at the excellent value for money given its location in Surrey. The room was really comfortable and nicely set out with some nice touches to make it feel more like home. The welcome from the staff was great and the manager could not do enough for us. We stayed... A friend and I travelled to Esher for an over-night stay, choosing The Bear because it had car-parking, wifi and seemed good value via the online booking site. We were not disappointed! On arrival we were welcomed with smiles and shown to our room by Sammy. It was a very pleasant first impression, which continued during our stay. The room... More

Just returned after a couple of nights at The Bear. Evening meal overpriced and average. Rooms and bar area in desperate need of redecorating as they are dingy. Breakfast excellent, beautifully cooked and well presented. Great selection of tea and coffees in the room. Fridge with bottled water, fresh fruit and fresh milk. Staff very friendly (we did manage to... More

Just an overnight stay but very pleasant accommodation I could certainly recommend. Staff friendly Breakfast was excellent (freshly cooked). Bar was quiet but a nice selection of real ale. £100 for B & B inc parking not bad
