I reserved two rooms at this hotel on the internet. One for myself and one for my elderly father who is an 87 year old veteran of the D.Day landings. When we arrived at the reception we were told our rooms were in the "Annexe". We were taken across the road to a sad looking house, given our room keys... more

I read some of the complaints before booking but took a chance because everywhere else was booked. The building and the room in the picture are not the ones that are let. The place is a grubby little bed and breakfast but tolerable . I did book a second night because of change of plans and was charged double the... more

I don't know what photos they used for their ad, but there certainly aren't any of the room we were allocated!! I am sorry to say that we went up to our room, looked in and quickly left. It was smelly, grubby, dark and dank. We did not speak to the management because we really didn't want to stay there.... more

On booking we checked that an arrival about 11pm would be in order as our ferry was due to dock at 10.30pm at Ouistreham. This we were told would not be a problem. Our satnav found the hotel with no problem but it appeared to be closed - all in darkness and security shutters closed. I snooped around the hotel... more

We stayed 3 nights in a lovely large room. It was clear that money had been spent refurbishing and that this was an ongoing process. The couple running the hotel (who spoke some English) were friendly and obliging and the breakfast was pretty good by French continental breakfast standards. Overall, good value and a real taste of France. more

This is definitely NOT a 2 star hotel. I would say it is no more than a bed and breakfast place. We booked 2 superior rooms and asked for one room on a lower floor for my mother in law who is 82. We were given 2 rooms in converted outhouses supposedly superior rooms!!!! with terraces, which are no more... more

First the good impressions: the people running the hotel were lovely and kindly stayed up late us, our first time driving in the area and we struggled to find the hotel, they helped us to get there. Breakfast was ok, nice bread and croissant, but nothing special, cost was £7 or similar per head per day. The main hotel looks... more

In June we spent three weeks in northern France, visiting various locations and staying in several different hotels. The D. Day landing sites were on our itinerary and, after considerable research on the Internet, we chose the 2* Hotel Le Canada at Hermanville-sur-Mer, as it suited our purpose as regards both good location and reasonable price. We discovered later that... more

After getting lost in the area, all we wanted to do was to find the hotel and put the last 10 hours of driving from Darmstadt, Germany behind us. Initial looks at the hotel were uncertain but we quickly grew to love it. The bathroom in our room was unusually cramped (we've traveled profusely throughout Europe and this was a... more

2 adults, 1 small dog - accommodated in a converted single garage next to the hotel. Very small living area, bathroom adequate. No bedside rug on tiled floor and it was cold wet weather, hair-dryer not working, light above bathroom mirror not working, light above bed not working, entrance door very difficult to open and close due to sticking on... more
